Legends of Belariath

Asha Delvis

Asha was originally born into nobility, being the daughter of King Edward Delvis and his wife, Queen Landra. While many common families might be perturbed by a child with Asha's unusual physical traits, her parents had no issue with the idea, feeling that it only made their already beautiful daughter even more unique. As a result, Asha lived the normal life of a princess for many years, learning the rules of ettiquite and how to properly present herself as a lady.

When she turned eighteen, it became time for the princess to have her marriage arranged. However, both of her parents knew that introducing her to just anyone could and most likely would end in a very embarassing and potentially devistating event, so they were very thorough about finding her a suitor. Unfortunately, none of the male suitors they approached were willing to marry a woman with Asha's rather unusual endowments. Unknown to either of them, Asha had been having a very fulfilling relationship with one of the serving maids in the castle by the name of Trista. Asha had wandered upon a party amongst the serving staff and Trista, one of the servants already well aware of Asha's appendage and quite intoxicated by this point, virtually threw herself at the princess, professing her strong desire to make passionate love to her, regardless of her unique nature. The sober princess took her not-so-sober partner back to her bedchambers, throwing her knowledge of social class separation headlong into the flaming volcano of her lust as that single night of passion evolved into a relationship that lasted several months.

Asha's parents were not happy when the truth was finally discovered. Trista was immediately cast out of the palace, much to the dismay of Asha, who cursed her parents and called them monsters. Pained by their daughters' loss, but feeling obligated to uphold their position as well as reputation among the royal court, gave the girl two options. She could stay in the palace and remain a princess, destined to have a marriage arranged with a nobleman, or leave the palace under the pretense that she ran from home with the secret promise that her parents would allow her to live out life as a commoner in peace. Asha thanked her parents for their generosity, and before the week was up, the now former princess found herself making her own way in the world as a common girl.

Fortunately, Asha wasn't without her own means. While living in the palace, the girl had shown remarkable skill with stitching and tailoring, and had gained the ability to craft a variety of garments and clothing articles, as well as an assortment of footwear. What was once the hobby of a royal princess suddenly became her sole method of money making, and she was good enough that she eventually managed to open up a stall in her kingdom's bazaar, selling clothing to travelers and locals alike.

This lasted for several years until she finally felt as if she needed to move on, drawn by that inexplicable force that drives so many to wander the world. After collecting her belongings and the remainder of her savings, the former princess headed off to find a new place to call home.

Her travels taking her right into the heart of Nanthelion...
