Legends of Belariath

Cole

Cole was born to two loving parents, but his conception was seen as nothing short of magical. For years his mother and father had tried for a child of their own, someone that they could pass down their history to, someone to carry down the traditions of their people and there was no answer to their prayers. They grew desperate and in time found themselves trying different elixirs and rites to promote fertlity. All failed and the couple fell into despair.

On a fully harvest moon in fall, Cole's mother and father went to pray at the temple. Their hearts heavy as they knew that their prayers would nver be answered. Yet that night something different happened. Though frost was in the air, frieflys came in a cloud around them, bathing Cole's parents in their light before the swirling mass moved to settle upon the statues of Sazera and Maedel.

Cole was conceived that night.

He was an outspoken boy. His adolesence filled with physical activity. Sports and hunting taking much of his leisure time while his parents pushed him towards arcaine studies and the lore of his people. The belife that the mind was more important to cultivate then the flesh was one that was constaintly pushed into Cole, but the lesson was never one that fully took root in the young man. Still, he was a dutyful son and did all he could to learn the traditions and stories of his people.

Cole became brash and arrogant with the knowlege he'd gained in his studies. The young Torian made his way from home to find himself. His head filled with the belife that the 'golden' time of his people didn't lay in the past, but in the future. He found himself taking an interest in Nanth. Cool blue eyes drawn to the region on the maps he'd poured over. The man knew that would be where he'd make his start, that was where fate had chosen to lead him.

There were no tears shed for him when he left his home. A stoic nod of respect given to father and mother before he left with a rucksack upon his shoulder. Only a few coins and a few changes of clothes. It was the first time in his life that Cole found wisdom in his parents urgings towards education. All of his riches were portable, lightly carried and folded away in the recesses of his mind.
