Legends of Belariath

Kyie

Kyie had been the cast off really of the family, born the twin to another they always looked upon her as the lesser one. She was raised though, they tried to make her into her sister, to make her act more like a moriel and less.. odd. After a while they started to realize she could never actually be 'normal' when her parents walked in on her talking to someone that just was not there. They were a family of Clerics, bound to Kirva and to them, the idea that their daughter was never going to be a Cleric made them almost sick.

She had a quiet childhood really, everyone avoided her, they kept their distance, found her to be odd, which probably would explain her social retardation more then anything else. She was left to wander by herself and much to her parents dismay she almost completely just managed to leave any way of the Moriels. She disliked Kirva, it made her scared really, though she wasn't exactly immune from the Dark Goddess' effects. She had managed to though make it through her life in a happy way, at least.. she'd thought she was, the nearer and nearer she grew to adulthood the more that would be whispered, the more that they would plan. One night, in the late of the evening, long after she'd fallen asleep, there were noises then just as she started to move and found she was unable to.

Her hands were bound, her mouth was covered, her eyes were wide. She stared up at a man, very much not a moriel. Her nostrils flared as she inhaled the scent of the necromancer. She gagged a little, thrashed against her bindings, unable to breath to think, the realization that she was not going to move, that she was trapped. She gagged again, the face over her own leered, “Don't worry little pet,” it whispered, “soon you won't care, soon you will only do...” she was lifted, tossed unceremoniously over a shoulder and hauled through the caverns to the surface.

She had been locked away, under the floors of the large stone tower of that necromancer, She was fed through a small slot for awhile, she was chained to the wall, there was no talking to her, runes were placed along the doors to keep any spirits away other then the ones he called to torment her night after night. It happened for a week, then two and three.. by the fourth week the girl was rocking back and forth in the corner, crying. He was delighted by this, she looked actually happy to be allowed to see someone, even him. He unlocked her from the wall and took her upstairs, allowing her to bathe, to eat though it was on the floor, though he was nice enough to give her a plate to do so.

She was lead around, chained to random places, sometimes she would be just left there, when he wanted her to think that she'd done bad. He had her trained to cook, to clean then he would punish her for doing such things. Enjoying that torture, enjoying that control, making the girl confused as to what he wanted. Then he decided to break her fully. She was taken to a room, locked on a table she was subjected to his whims, whatever depravity crossed his mind. She was tortured, left again for days and even weeks locked in that room, pushed to the brink of her own mental abilities. He would bring in a healer, someone she found out was his wife, demented thing she was, sometimes watching the torture of the moriel, sometimes joining in. They changed kyie's name, calling her nothing, literally she thought she was just that, less then.

There was months, years that passed before one of their other servants felt bad for the girl, giving her extra bits of food, sometimes things to kill the pain until it was found out and she was taken off to be.. punished. Kyie found herself far more upset over the punishment of the nice girl then she was the breaking of her own mind and body. She was subjected to the treatments again and again, punished and tortured then locked back in that room she had been placed in to start with. Days would go buy without even the sound of people around her. Her water would grow stale and disgusting, there would be no food, nothing then one day someone would happen upon her, change things and she'd be left again, the necromancer having decided that she was no longer amusing.

There was time, long amounts of it, days when she would think she were dying only to be saved, sort of, water was changed, once she was allowed to leave the room to bathe only to be thrown back in, though the room had been cleaned this time. A bed placed there instead of the straw she'd been sleeping on. One of the maids told her there was a new Mistress in the tower, and where she disliked kyie being there at all she would not see the girl kept in exactly the state the old one had kept her. After a time though.. that had changed. The Mistress had changed slowly, soon kyie was once again back to being tortured, though she didn't any longer remember anything, save the woman called her by her name, kyie. The Necromancer enjoyed watching how he'd turned his new wife, turning her into another one of him, watching her practice her magics on the slave, then letting her be healed only to whip and torture her again.

How long she'd been kept in such a way she could no longer tell, the spirits had once again found her, one in particular seemed to bind itself to her, trying to help her. She was broken, far beyond what most would have assumed one could be. There was a day when she would be working, the necromancer in a particularly foul mood decided to take it all out on the girl, leaving her a bloodied mess. Something in her snapped, she had learned to enjoy the pain, taking it as better then being alone but this, this was far too much. She was abused to the point where she couldn't stand, it hurt to breath. An anger started to burn, the spirits whispering to her broke through, her mind, her own spirit was pushed back, something took over, she wasn't sure what happened, all she remembered was being in the bottom of the tower then it started to shake and collapse in on itself. She had ran, up the steps, collapsing on a floor, she was shoved into a cage, locked there, the man hissing, telling her he didn't know what she had done but she would die there before something hit her in the head and she was knocked out.

A roar had been heard in the area, the tower had fallen, death had consumed the whole of it and her cage, the one she was meant to die within was thrown from it. She woke up to moonlight, to moonlight and crickets and rain. A cry, something primal left her, her mind tried to grasp what had happened. She'd passed into sleep again, too weak to escape just at that moment. Her ears had picked up voices, people who had come to see what happened. She had pushed the cage, kicking it, finally bending it enough to squeeze through, little more then skin and bone she ran again, dropping to the ground below a tree, finding some.. things to eat there she slept for days. The spirits awoke her pushing her to leave, to move, leading her to someplace, leading her to a place where someone could help her, where someone would care.
