Legends of Belariath

Adaran

Adaran, born of Razan, a tall, black, half drow wolf, and Alin, a beautiful white wolf. Razan’s mother was drow, taken captive and then taken by Tolor, Razan’s father. Alin’s origins are unknown, since she has two white angel wings on her back, with no explanation of their existence. Adaran was born 53 years past, a gray wolf. His gray fur a sign of prosperity among his people, the Blood Claw tribe. The Blood Claws were the equivalent of drow in the respect of being out cast from their races for transgressions not their fault, but that’s a different story. His home town was Marikest, a coastal trading town two mountain ranges and three forests away. The town was small compared to others, but large enough to look impressive for a trading post. Marikest proved to be an intersting place for Adaran, learning carpentry at an early age. Skilled at carving little idols out of wood with an almost creepy likeness of the figure, he carved them out of broken boards and selling them for a pretty price. Soon he began to work on bigger projects, such as building storage shacks, and working up to building the warship, “Princess Warrior”, as his masterpiece. He took leave of his life as a wood smith to pursue his family’s calling as a soldier in the local military. His already impressive skills with a toy sword he used as a child improved exponentially as he began to train as a warrior, honing his abilities as he quickly climbed the ranks of the militia to become the lieutenant and keeper of Brightstone Keep. Brightstone keep was halfway up a mountain-side, over looking the town. His popularity and reputation as a strong but kind leader made people flock to Marikest, and trade boomed. He fought long campaigns against his kin, the so called “Blessed wolves” as the called themselves. To the community of wolven, he became known as a scourge and a kinslayer, but Adaran became loved by his people. He was feared by his enemies, and lead his soldiers to several successful campaigns against the Cat-people, and he frequently took slaves as a prize of his victory. One day, after a victorious battle, he came across a male cat slave. The young cat didn’t understand Adaran’s language, but Adaran could understand the slave’s desire to protect the wounded body of it’s master. Adaran took the slave in, and gave a lot of great care to this slave, despite the obvious resentment it showed toward him. After a while, the slave became to appreciate the amount of freedom it was given, and Adaran had taken to learn the slave’s language so he could communicate. The slave taught Adaran about his culture’s history and arts, and even how they trained their slaves. Adaran found this the most interesting of all. He soon became adept at how the manner of the training worked, withholding an orgasm, better ways to pleasure a partner, sexual pressure points, all the cool stuff that guys should know. Adaran came to marry 13 young wolven females, as the old wolven tradition of monogamy was thrown off to make up for the Blood Claws’ lack of numbers. One night, Kurjan Sawtooth, an orc shaman, snuck into the town of Marikest with a band of orcish barbarians and human mercenaries and slew everyone in their beds. Using his dark magic, he resurrected the fresh bodies as zombies to use in the raid on the fort. The men in the fort fought off the orcs, but lowered their guard when the "wounded" citizens of the town limped into the gates. The civilians "rested" until Kurjan commanded the zombie citizens to open the gates and had everyone killed. Adaran was on the night watch and barely escaped with his life that day. He could only watch as his home burned, and the screams of his wives and children nearly drove him insane. He swore vengence on the whole race of orcs, vowing to one day to annihilate any orc or goblin who tried to get in his way. He traversed several mountain ranges and forests until he came to the place known as the Lonely Inn. He only had a dagger to his name, and offered himself as an Inn slave, already having informal training as a slave. He proved rather good at tending bar, and his outgoing personality and almost complete lack of inhibitions allowed him to make friends easily. He eventually married Somali Longtail, a mutual ‘friend of a friend’ who became his lover, and bore his son, named Razan after Adaran’s father. One day, Adaran up and left, without any warning. He traveled back to Marikest in secret, reacquiring his infamous “Princess Warrior” warship. He searched the seas and fought bands of pirates, stealing their ill-gotten loot and slaves, making a descent profit and seeing the world like he always wanted. In spite of all his restored glory, he was miserable. He returned home to his wife with his head hung in shame, knowing that things would have been better if he had just stayed and been a husband, not gallivanting around trying to set up a better life elsewhere.
