Legends of Belariath

Aremi

"Dammit kid! STOP RIGHT THERE!"

The young girl giggled, dashing though the town, avoiding people, while her persuer, a fruit salesman, chased her.

The child had catgirl features. Namely, her tail and her ears, although most of her legs were furred, and she had large paws instead of feet. The rest of her factions, tho, were human, her eyes were blue, and her deep red hair was cut short. She was also small and nimble, so she was easily outrunning the older man...

And then somebody grabbed her tail, and lifted her right off the ground. She cried out, somewhat in pain, somewhat in surprise, as she was lifted almost efortlessly and turned around to see...

... her father. The tall catman shook his head. "Aremi, what are you doing?"

"Daaad!" Aremi protested. "Let me go! I did nothing wrong!"

"Oh, really? Well, lets ask Mr. Bernard, shall we?"

Aremi pouted, cutely, and crossed her arms in front of her chest, still dangling from her tail. By then, the man chasing her had caught up with them...

"Fang! Dammit! Keep your girl in a leash already!"

Fang sighed. "What did Aremi do this time, Bernard?"

"Do?! You still have to ask? She stole my fruits! Again!"

Fang sighed again, and glanced at Aremi. "Aremi..."

"I did nothing!" The catgirl cried out, huffing and turning her head away. However, the motion caused a small, round object to come free from her robe. Aremi yelped, and quickly tried to grab it, but her father was faster, grabbing the object, a fruit, with his free hand.

"... you and I, young lady, are going to have a little talk."

Aremi groaned.

She was grounded for days. But, still, she just couldn't -stop- herself. The rush she felt when she stole something was incredible, and running away from the irrate victims who discovered it was -fun-. Her dad was just a spoilsport.

She -did- promise her parents that she would try to avoid trouble... which meant, in her mind, that she'd do her best not to be discovered. After all, there's no trouble if you don't get discovered.

As she grew up, Aremi slowly became better and better at what she did. The magic she learned from her mother, small shapeshifting and lying magic, helped her greatly. She also had gained a taste for money in general, and had discovered that becoming a mercenary was probably the best option if she wanted to have fun -and- wanted to earn money!

Soon after, Aremi left her hometown, to look for greener lands for money, fun, adventure and... well, more money.
