Legends of Belariath

Christolf

There is a lot not known about this catman...such as his origins, his loves, and his life.

Here is a little about him. Once thought lost to the dusts of time...

Description: A young man, moving with a grace that seems to be more befitting a feline. When you look at his face, feline features are highlighted. His face looks like a mix-match of feline and human characteristics...a small, triangular nose, but a full mouth. His eyes that are a golden hue, with black centers. His hands are very human-like, with only a bare amount of fur on them. His tail is hidden by the robe he wears, which is large and billowy.

The robe on his back is that of the finest spidersilk, with something odd weaved into the robe's make...seemingly to give it an air of power. On his forehead rests a circlet, made of the purest mithril. His body is bare beyond that. He holds in his hand a staff, made of wood, with several arcanic symbols on it, stark white...almost too brilliant to behold with the naked eye...with a gnarled and burned top to it...smooth, and effective as a weapon. In his left ear is a hoop, made of Mithril, which seemed to glow with an arcane light. He also now wears a new pair of gloves, modified for his use, leaving the fingers open for the casting of magic, but protecting his knuckles and palms from damage. They are dyed forest green, to match his robes, and offer no real protection...just an athestic look. They also bear his personal mark...the elvish rune symbolizing Gaea, on the back of the hands.

Background: Young Christolf was found abandoned outside a human village, some 23 years ago. There was blood on his face, and his naked body...and little else to distinguish him from a normal human child. His foster family raised him as one of their own, finding some of his charateristics to be feline...but they don't point this out...while their birth son does so. Ridiculed and belittled his whole life, at the age of 17, he left his hometown in tears. He wandered the countryside for several months, until he nearly froze to death...and was rescued by a friendly Druid Priestess. She taught him the ways of nature, and how to use those forces to help him in along his way. But, those lessons came at a price...and she demanded a child from him. Seeing as he could not give her one without sleeping with her, he did just that...and as a consequence, he finds sex to be only slightly vulgar. He has found his way to the city to learn more of his craft...to better himself for the revenge that lay in his future...

Since that time, Christolf has done many things...been many things...such as an enchanter for the Magic Shop, a bartender at the Inn, and yes, for a short while, a slave. He has even managed two seperate shops, Chocolates to Cherish, which he helped bring back to life, and the Apothecary, something very dear to his heart. However, he left both those positions, and moved on with his life, due to a great personal trauma to himself. He is no longer affiliated with the Guild of Healer's either. He now has a job as an Imperial Slave Authority registrar, and in the Inn, working as a bartender and a musician, when the mood suits him. Beyond that, he still teaches those of his calling who want his aid, and becomes what he knows he is already...a servant of his Mistrass, Gaea.

Special items/equipment: Christolf currently has several items that to him, hold a special signifigance. This first is his robes...found on an expedition searching for a lost slave, in a cave blocked by vines...held there for some unknown number of years. It is a relic called Gaea's Blessing, and at the bottom, there will be a full list of it's stats and abilities.

The next item is his smooth, white staff, made of lightning-struck oak. It has a name as well, being a Named Item...Nature's Fury. It is, for all intensive purposes, a normal staff, but holds a special signifigance to him. It has enchanted to it, +5 to attack, and five (5) slots of Focus for his most prized offensive spell, the powerful Starfire.

The next two items are things he keeps on his body most of the time...a Mithril circlet enchanted with three things...first, a +5 Defense against both physical and arcane means, the spell of Pleasure, and a perminant +2 to his Intelligence Score. (+2 INT) Next is a MIthril earring, kept in his right earlobe, which is also enchanted. The first is a +5 to his Defense score, and the second is the spell of Sex Thought.

He also, on occasion, carrys a mithril rapier, of a custom design. The handle looks like a tree trunk, the hand guard the branches of the tree, and the pummel is what appears to be something akin to a cherry...but, then again, no one has seen it up close enough to figure out what it is. The blade is also enchanted with a +5 to it's attack value, but nothing else.

He has a few other items, some used for the training of his slaves, or the punishment of them, or everyday use. They currently include a chasity belt, with Pleasure perminantly active on it, a dildo with Vibrate, a soft enchantment, on it, an exquisitely crafted violin, done by Ariellia, made of cherry with mithril strings and bearing his personal mark on the neck. It is enchanted with soft enchantment to always be in tune, granted by the dragon Traghorn at the Winter Festival, and a teardrop crystal, a gift from the Unicorn Vasava, and other things.

Special people in his life: He currently has two slaves...the human thief Twelic Sepe, the vulpine female ranger Tsutla. He has few love interests beyond these two. But the future is always in motion, and what is true now can be untrue tomorrow.

Description

Gaea's Blessing is a robe of tightly woven spidersilk spun by the arachnids of Gaea's grove. Unlike typical spidersilk this material allows the wearer to change the color of the robe with a thought. The base color is pale green as that of fresh young leaves, which seems to change color depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

Woven into the spidersilk are thin vines which form a close-knit mesh of vines and leaves on the outside of the robe, leaving the wearer protected from the thorns that cover every inch of the vines, draping down from the neck to cover the back of the person, and can be pulled around the body to envelope the owner in their embrace. The vines sprout leaves which grow larger during the spring and summer months, then shrink slowly as winter approaches.

The robe seems able to mold itself to fit the wearer regardless of their size and covers everything from shoulders to ankles. A large hood hangs from the back and can be pulled over the wearer's head if they wish. Along the hem of the robe are several arcanic designs which when viewed closely can be recognized as Gaea's name written several different languages.

Background:

Long before man walked the earth, the gods and goddesses labored lovingly to create the perfect eden-like enviornment for their faithful servants. Gaea paid special attention to the most minute detail wanting her own servants to feel pride in their surroundings. . .enough pride to forfeit their own life while protecting it if necessary. As the goddess of earth walks the lands, all manner of vegatation begins sprouting. . .saplings, ivy, flowers of varying colors and shapes, grass. What had once been a barren land, now teems with life sustaining plants.

For many decades, the gods and goddesses nurture the land. Finally, they decide it is time to populate the land. To their way of thinking, what is a world to rule over without anyone to worship you? So, it came to pass that the land was populated. Each god and goddess spent a fair amount of time with the inhabitants, molding and shaping them into faithful subjects.

Soon, the people chose their dieties to dedicate the bulk of their time to. Most of the gods chose to stay in their lofty thrones and be worshipped from afar. Gaea was the exception to the rule. She spent countless hours with her followers becoming close to them all before choosing one as her High Priest. Vandar had proven his faithfulness and willingness to learn many times thereby earning the illustrious position. Vandar took his job as High Priest to heart. He gathered around him those he knew to be genuine servants of Gaea and not some heretic that only wished to be known for his or her association with the goddess.

For many years, Gaea walked among the men and women. She became known as the gentle goddess, caring little for the ways of war. All she cared about was that her children protect each other and the land that gave them life. After the building of the temple in her honor, Gaea retired to her own lofty throne to watch over her followers from a distance. Little did she know that soon destruction and death will befall her children.

Not long after the completion of the temple, the inhabitants were attacked. Some of those that didn't believe in worshipping gods and goddesses had decided to end the reign of the gods on high. Gaea's followers fought valiantly but were soon overcome by the barrage. They were taught the ways of nature, but their training for combat was sadly skimmed over. All of the followers fell leaving the temple unprotected, and the rioters destroyed it before moving on to one of the others.

Gaea, hearing the cries of her children, descended into the midst of the carnage, to hear a strangled cry reverbrating through the mountains. Thus she came upon the fallen body of Vandar, and heard his soft whisper, “We tried to stop them, but we weren't strong enough,” and these were the last words ever uttered from the young High Priest's lips. As the last breath escaped from Vandar, Gaea understood that never again would she allow one of those close to her to ever fall so easily again.

Rising, she walked through the woods, and the forest seemed to feel her distress over what has happened, with each plant, tree, flower she passed bending to touch the goddess and offer their form of sympathy. Stopping amid a beautiful patch of variegated ivy, the goddess sat to think about all that had happened, when all of those she had hand picked for her cause lay slain and her temple in ruins. As a plan of action formed in the goddess's mind, she rose gracefully and made her way back to temple, beginning the ritual of cleansing the ground. Once the land was sanctified by her presence, the goddess drew unto herself new followers.

This time, unwilling to leave their safety in the hands of chance, Gaea taught her children how to protect themselves by using things of nature. Thorns dipped in poison were made into darts. Canes were cut and dried to be used as blowguns. Finally, after many strenuous months of training, Gaea decided the group ready to take over the care of the temple. She walked among them studying each in turn before stopping in front of a young man that reminds her hauntingly of Vandar. Belenus isn't as meek as his predecessor and should prove a strong foe against any that might try to attack them again.

With a snap of her fingers, a servant appeared on Gaea's right side with a robe woven from the finest spider silk available. Though the color appeared pale green, it changed and shimmered as the light hits it. As Gaea set the robe around Belenus' shoulders, she began to speak. “This robe will identify you as High Priest and help protect you. It has my blessing. . .as well as my rage upon it. Only the finest material was used in its creation. When the proper time has come, you are to pass it down to one you think is worthy. Wear it with pride and protect those weaker than yourself.” With those few words, the goddess took her leave.

As the years went by, the robe was passed from one High Priest to another until one posing as a child of Gaea turned out to be a traitor. Chadric had heard rumors of the power of the robe and thought to keep it for himself. Little did he know that Gaea's blessing didn't extend to those who weren't pure of heart or mind, and only those that seek to protect that which she holds dear gain her blessing. Thus, the robe was of little use to the would be thief. For many years, the children of Gaea searched for the robe, but it seemed the article was lost to them, and Chadric, it would seem, had escaped. Little did they know that the night the robe had been taken, Chadric found a cave to sleep in, and when he awoke the following morning, the entrance to the cave had been covered over by a strange thorny vine. He had tried to hack away the vines, but they kept growing back, and there had been no other way for him to escape. Thus, he died alone in his silent tomb with only the cape to keep him company.

Centuries later, while searching for a runaway slave, the catman Christolf found the cave where he suspected that she may have run. The vines and thirns impeded his progress, but he was determined to get inside, for some reason. Something drew him there...something he couldn't see or feel. Once inside, he found the long-dead Chadric, nothing but bones and dust, along with these robes...which seemed still to hold their mysterious sheen after all these years. He picked them up, holding them to the light...and the vines mysteriously vanished...leaving the cave enterance open once more. The catman was a little thrown off by this, but he knew that every thing had it's purpose...and he had been drawn here to find this magical item. He took the robes with him, and continued on with his search...then unaware at the power he had found.
