Legends of Belariath

Elessar Alcarin

Elessar Alcarin, a man of many qualities, and of many vices, all of which discovered when he began work as a master blacksmith in his forest home. But to know the man, one must first know how he came to be.

He was born in his home forest of Tir`malavorn, a wealthy place, where prosparity and riches were matched by the high class citizens who strove to be the best. His mother was a renowned Treesinger, she was responisible for most of the archetect one would see when visting thier forest. His father, one of the great elementalists, a man who could command the primal energies that created all life. Both sought after for thier genius in thier respective fields, and when Elessar was born, it was determined that he will rise to become the greatest of all his peers.

At an early age he demonstrated that fact many times over by excelling from his private tutorage, provided "generously" by the man who oversaw this greast amass of privelege and fortune. Lord Arminas Táralóm was a man who saw his forests as the staple in which other high elves of his kind should emulate from, he picked the best and brightest, culled out the worst from his citizens, amassing great wealth in the process.

He saw greatness in this young lad of promising future and gave him the chance to be raised alongside the best and the brightest in hopes that it will all rub off onto him. He rubbed elbows with many of the finest, learning as much as he can in many fields of education. Arcane science, Treesinging (to his mother's joy), philosophy, even the coveted art of metalsmithing, for thier gift of crafting most of the world's known mithril made them who they are now -- richer beyond thier wildest dreams. And it was because of that, that lured the boy to start persuing a more labourous of professions.

He apprenticed himself to the current master smith at the time, a very ancient man by the name Dínendal of the Fires. He was a man who could control the infinte powers of the sacred flames, incorporating it into his smithing, and earning him much prestige. He was also wise, and tutored Elessar in many things, such as metal sculpting, weaponsmithing, even ornamental works. He even included a bit of arcane lessons since Elessar clearly had the gift for the arcane arts. Elessar worked diligently, enjoying every minute of it for the more he learned, the more everyone around him took notice.

After many years of working under him, Dínendal, decided it was time to instruct Elessar in the coveted art of making mithril, an art few succeed, and many fail from. Elessar took to it like mother's milk, absorbing everything he can about this mystical metal mithril. In a short time Elessar eventually mastered the metal, and in good time as well, for though strong and seemingly resilient to the forces of time, Dínendal grew weary and longed for the Eternal Sleep, who most of his kind sought to achieve. Elessar was positioned to take over for this kindly old blacksmith, and for good reasons for his talents even matched the old man's, and then some.

His parents were so very proud of him for achieving this status, and yet very sad, for the life of the master blacksmith was one of seclusion, forever he would remain within his forge to create for Lord Arminas, never allowed to leave. He worked long and hard producing more and more metal marvals, archatecture that rivaled even the Treesinger's in beauty and construction, all made from the finest mithril the forests has ever seen. Lord Arminas was overjoyed that even on occasion, when Elessar's work grew too heavy for him, would allow visitations by different people, mostly girls of his age, to entertain him.

It was in fact this reason that many problems started to arise. At first it went well, the female companions provided just the right distraction to an already taxed young man. Then the distractions became less and less potent since most of the girls wouldn't want to spend time in such a hot place. They became more of a decorative chair since the heat made it impossible for them to be as entertaining as they would be normally. Elessar grew wery again with each new visitation as they would become sullen, even cold towards him. An idea sparked when one of them complained of a backache from sitting in the same chair for hours on end. Elessar solved it by giving her a simple backrub. Oh the delight on her face was enough to energize him enough to work even more than he used to. So Elessar sought to instead enterain his guests as much as possible.

He learned many things since then, how to make a lady feel cared for, even loved on some occasions, learning as many things on how to please them as he can, even certain techniques that both enjoyed immensly. It became very popular umong the ladies to visit the doting blacksmith, sometimes to the point of arguement among others. But Elessar strived to entertain any who visited him never failing them as they left with a tremendious smile on thier faces. Even his work advanced beyond anyone's prediction, he would come up with newer ways of making mithril, of using this mystical metal, even producing statues --sometimes of the women that visited him-- that were futher sought after by all.

However, his advances in the science of metal crafting became dangerous as he started to invent newer ways of making this metal so that many can afford, even making weapons, though made from the strongest steel, had a mithril edge. This infuriated Lord Arminas, for the wealth would steadily decrease because of such things. At some point the elders were even starting to forbade him to persue crafts that were a threat to thier prosparity. This in turn infuriated Elessar who's obsession in learning was hindered by others. He grew sullen again, unable to work even while entertaining the ladies. He resorted to drinking, though his obsession at the time was sampling fine wines that too lessened his work. Enough was enough, and Elessar found that it was time to abandon his blacksmith profession and the forests so that he may persue his dreams unhindered by the greed of others. And so he found himself in Nanthalion.

At first, it seemed a daunting task, for the most part, he was forced to leave behind all the luxury that was provided for him because of his work. He was quite famous throughout the forests, as well into the lands of man. However, try as he might, he could not find a single person that had heard of his greatness, nor did he find anyone to give him lodgings, even with a few offers for quip-pro-quo he could not find a place to stay. Eventually he was forced to settle in a small cubbyhole within a store attic, it was dusty and dirty and yet he tried his best to not let his shappy lodgings interfere with his plans to make a name of hismelf within this town

His first attempts failed miseribly, unable to find any decent jobs, he resorted to offer his services as a massuse. Working his hands into the back's of ladies, earning a bit of coin, he was eventually able to afford lodgings at teh inn. Now anchored, he can persue other venues, and the first thing to do is learning all he can about his arcane skills. He'll eventually become the best in his field, as for being a blacksmith he'll put that one on hold for the moment to persue more important skills.

At first, finding better employment seemed like a priority to him, though what else would there be besides giving the occasional lady a backrub. All in all, he needed more, and so searched to find a better job. During his search he met up with a young lady named Valci, she was extrodinary, an elf like him, she possessed an almost enchanting quality about her. And those eyes, those big blue eyes, ones that Elessar thought he could float in them forever, and float he does when he starts courting her with a passion. After a while things seemed steady, even more so when he met LuJayne, although the meeting was suppose to be to discuss what sort of real estate was availible, things accelerated from there. He considered her to be quite beautiful, in an exotic way, almost like a gem encrusted sword, those glittery scales and that tail. She started teaching him, teaching him that there was more to life than pleasuring others, because even though he usually gets what he wants by pleasuring others, that isn't a life for him. She also taught him how to let go, how to not be so restrained in his emotions, and passion, since he no longer had a reason to be controled by anyone --she taught him well.

Things were looking up, he was in love with one of his kind, and he respected and admired one who was not his kind and yet he considered her kin as well. He even found a job later on as a brewer, putting his sharp mind to work brewing the town's supply of intoxicating substances, being on the front lines to prevent a major riot. Then he came upon a sad day when he arrived to his room finding the love of his life had packed up suddenly in the middle of the night and left. He later learned that she had gone off to become a slave to a rival of his. It nearly broke him, except that later he found a new love of his life, Lerei. She was a treasure to him, a refined person, a scribe to boot. Also his kin she was beautiful and filled his empty space with a light that he would never want to wane.

For now the once blacksmith had everything he ever wished for and more, and now his goals have become focused, to live in this town and become the best than he could ever be since his time as a blacksmith.
