Legends of Belariath

Madeline Savon

Madeline Savon walks over to the desk in the corner of her room at the Inn pulling out the chair before she settles down upon it. Her small right hand reaches in her bag pulling out a medium sized brown leather bound book with a beautifully designed of a circle upon the top tangled with numerous others that have been painted a sparkling jaded color. Her lips lift in a gentle smile that seems to always be in place there, fixed upon her soft lips as sure as sure as the sun will rise.

Trailing her fingers over the pattern on the book she remembers her mother's words when she handed the book to her. “My lovely daughter, take this journal and pouch of coins and make haste. I shall not watch you suffer as I have at that man's... We do not have much time but please go my dear. Pen your thoughts and journeys upon these empty pages and live life the way you wish. “ Remembers her mothers eyes filled with unshed tears as they cautiously glance about thrusting the book into my hands saying “The pattern upon this journal stands for your life dear. The thick circle in the center of all the criss crossing ones represents you while the others stand for the lives you will touch and change during your lifetime,” her hurried words continue on cracking with emotion, “Also the color of the paint stands for the nature about us, everything for us Sylvan Elves returns back to nature.” Her mother's lips lift in a loving smile before saying “And anyway, the color is an exact match for you beautiful eyes.” The sound of the back door opening cause her mother to jump out of fright before pushing her daughter towards the forest, her last words were “Run dear and never look back...” That's what she did...

Placing the journal upon the desk Madeline reaches over and picks up the quill and dips it in the ink before opening the cover of her journal before glancing up making sure there was enough of the candle stick left to supply light for her writing. Nodding slightly as she tilts her head bringing the tip of the quill to the blank paper and started to write....

My first entry,As I sit here in a new environment not knowing a soul I yearn for the embrace of my mother. She always knew what to say at the right time, but since I left her side I haven't found the precious time to sit down and write my thoughts and journeys in here. I have been traveling for the past month and befriended a few, but something always seems to draw me away from them. One male elf I met in Sylum named Lymer led me on into the danger of his corrupted group. He thought it was interesting to tangle an innocent woman into his disturbed world. Though things climaxed quickly with Lymer I managed to slip out in the middle of the night, not without leaving a scar upon his right shoulder with her simple dagger he never thought she would use...

Madeline smirked slightly remembering Lymer's suprised look when he jumped her that night thinking it would be easy to overtake a lone woman as she. Glances to the dagger held snug in her boot and grins knowing enough to always be prepared and continues on with her entry...

After that I made my way to the outskirts of Nanthalion. Seeking shelter I wandered through the town wondering what I would find here. Glancing from the different shops some of the workers waved to her with suprising openness that alarmed her but intrigued her as well. Speaking to a fellow elf they directed me down the near by path saying it will lead her to The Lonely Inn where I could find shelter and a hot meal. making her way to the Inn was an interesting tale in it's own. Seeing different races walking about together was enough of a shock but seeing couples in the middle of the act of intercourse shocked her even more. Once I made it to the Inn I was greeted are the bar by a large Ogre that seemed gentle enough as he signed me in and handed me a key to my room. Deciding not to linger among the others I quickly made it to my room where I sit now.

Madeline shivers softly as she remembers seeing creatures she didn't even want to visualize.

I don't know what's in store for me here at this place that many have labeled as Belariath but I do know that nothing will ever happen if I hide out in this room for the rest of my days. I'm gonna need a lot of courage and strength to make it through they next few weeks and I must admit that the excitement has enticed me enough to return downstairs this very night. So my dear journal I must admit that you shall be my first true friend and confidant. Wish me luck on the new road of my journey.

Glances to her entry before tilting her head wondering how she should end it, not wishing to just state the simple words “the end” as her lips lift in a gentle smile before writing,

The Beginning...

Madeline closes the journal and slips it back into her pouch glancing to the candle noticing the flickering flame was close to it's demise. She stands making up her mind to join the other patron's downstairs, and as an afterthought she reaches into her bag and pulls out a pouch of peanuts smirking playfully before blowing out the candle....

The distraunt elf sat at the front desk of the Naked Bird staring blankly off into the distance. Piles of various garments scattered about awaiting her attention though she couldn't center her mind upon her job after watching her husband, Sephiroth, fall to the ground before her amid the empty street of Nathanlion mere moments from death. His life slipping away right before her very eyes when a few days before they were laughing and playing about with Madeline's newly acquired pet ferret, Rascal. Glancing over the ferret now while he explored through the silk bras as he favored to do when his master was busy working about the shop. Deciding that she needed to do something she picked up an empty parchment and quill intending to write out a request for a few smaller sized clothing garments though she couldn't help but scribble down the simple words upon the top...

My life thus far....

Blinking slightly as she glances to the words her lips lifted in a sad smile deciding that she may have lost her love but she would never loose the memories and continued on writing blindly allowing the quill to scribble out her innermost thoughts...

Coming to Belariath wasn't what I thought the experience would be. No not at all actually. Though I shall skip my first few weeks for they weren't as important as the fateful night the barbarian, I later as informed that his name was Zoltiare, stalked me from the Inn into town. What a horrendous experience as I was a bit tipsy with to much to drink, having not learned my limit of how much of the fruity beverage the bartender called Nature's Delight that my body could handle. Aww what a delight it could be some nights.. and others, well you have seen the drunks about the Inn. No that night was the first night here I really experienced fear gripping my very soul. Unknowingly leading Zoltiare to the General Store where he manhandled my small form. Literally held me a few feet off the ground with his large hand gripping about my small throat. Though to my utter surprise few stood up to protect me from being utterly used by the brute and left to fend by myself. No I believe that night Mayalaya, Eku, and Halfmoon stood there ground to protect me. Complete shock hit me afterwards though at the moment I was grateful to the few as we all marched towards the arena to settle the matter with a duel, well they marched I was carried... still by my throat.

Pleading with the other the whole trip as much as I could held as such not to danger themselves for one not worthy of there friendship let alone the thought of one of them getting harmed on my behalf. I still shiver remembering that night being thrusted to the side laying there injured and unable to stop the events the unfolded before my eyes. Zoltiare ended up sending Mayalaya and Eku to the hospital dispatching of their attempts to defeat him easily enough. Halfmoon tried his hardest to protect the two while trying to distract the barbarian with his words as he knew his attempt would have landed him in the same predicament as the other two. The group lucked out as the half feline named Sephiroth had been training within the Arena came to there aide. First he ordered me to take his horse Trish and leave she would take me back to his cottage. Arguing with him as I wanted to know the fate of my friends and truth be told fear that leaping into the protection of someone she didn't even know was wearing upon me. I did as he said only later to find out that he died that very night at the hands of Zoltiare, his body sent to the Unigo to be resurrected while the other two where taken to the Healer's Guild. The news of his death shocked me for I knew he died trying to save me, though he already accomplished that very feat by sending me away.

Sighing softly as Madeline arched her back stretching her arms outwards as her jaded eyes shimmered with tears and an odd smile tugging at her lips. Memories fresh within her mind as if they had happened yesterday though it might not have been the happiest of meetings it was theirs alone to treasure and look back on laughing during their complicated relationship. Sadness creeps in once more as she corrects herself. They were now her memories... no one else's. She wasn't allowed to lounge about within the arms of her lover, her best friend and giggle over the unique accurance. Her smile melting away as she glanced back to the partially filled parchment deciding she didn't wish to cease her writings just yet. Gripping a hold of the slowly fading memory as she dived back into her scribbling. Rascal lounged near his master happily curled within a rather large cup of a baby blue silk bra with his two tiny front paws curling about the edge of the fabric resting his chin upon them dozing off.

He returned to the pair after a week though he wasn't the same man she met that very night. Yes, he was brought back to life by a man named Zarias, but his personality had twisted and warped some how. He didn't remember how his demise have come about so he didn't remember me at all. Slowly but surely he calmed down and decided I wasn't a threat, boy was he wrong.. well at least emotionally he was wrong. After knowing him barely a few weeks I wore his collar. The thought of all the problems I caused him and the struggle he must have had to control his temper at my stubborn pride must have caused a great battle within him. I was never meant for the collar back then.. but today.. well the thought of wearing another's collar almost seems comforting. Never mind that though, I was the worse defiant slave you could imagine though I did obey him on one rule, not to sleep with others. Of course I didn't wish to sleep about though it does seem to be a rather accepted thing about these parts.

So there began our story, this chapter in my life that would bring me the most pleasure and the heart wrenching pain. Love comes with these strings though maybe such an emotion wasn't worth the consequences. I sit within the Naked Bird writing the beginning of our tale and close my eyes still picturing his face alight with love softening his rough facial features. I don't

Feeling the light pressure upon her thigh as she looks down her soft jaded eyes for the first time shimmering with love as well as longing for his touch still lost within her memories. Her gaze comes into focus upon Philana's head laying upon the elf's thigh drawing Madeline back to the present as she whimpered softly realizing tears were trailing down her cheeks once more. Dropping the quill as she looked away from her fragile friend to the parchment she just filled with her beautiful writing. Realizing she had been crying for some time as her tears have fallen upon the parchment. Reaching out to wipe away the wetness only to smudge the ink with her shaking fingers. Sighing in frustration as she allows the ink and tears to dry before rolling it up sliding it within her pouch intending to finish at a later time. All awhile Philana remained silent watching Rascal and Snow pounce about before entering in a rather heated wrestling match. Reaching out as she snatched up the ferret while Philana did the same Madeline slipping the furry creature into her robe's pocket. The pair looked at each other as there eyes seemed haunted with unspoken words as they nodded in unison. Both standing as they exited the Naked Bird making there way quietly towards the Inn without a single word.
