Legends of Belariath

Nabirye

Conceived in the divine realm, commonly known as the enchanted forest, was a dulcet being. This lolita of a creature was manifested first within a spring, living beneath the shallow embrace of majestic waters for the first few years of her life. Her connection with nature was immediately a priori, or, innate. An elemental daughter of Gaia, she would be known as a corlet. Most of her adolescent life was spend in the realm, coexisting with other creations of the exalted Goddess and her kin alike. Upon reaching her nineteenth year, the liquescent elemental would acquire an unquenchable curiosity of the outside world, the intriguing realms that paralleled her own. Offering endowments to her beloved deity she set forth, away from the safe and familiar realm she called home.

Such endowments became obviously beneficial. Embarking upon a journey with no established end, the corlet was forced to weather various conditions. Gaia bestowed upon her the ability to surmount any adverse temperature changes, allowing the ethereal being to withstand sweltering heat and blindingly polar regions. After months of nomadic travel she would come to inhabit a provincial forest, similar to her home. Here is where she first became acquainted with an intelligent life previously unknown. A Sheyka male of the forest tribe by the name of Sah`Calt stumbled upon the fae girl.

Sah`Calt was a highly religious Ach’unty, considered somewhat obscure in his tribe, as he worshipped the Goddess Aetherius. This deity was the Sheyka’s goddess of water, and in accordance with fae’s own celestial principles. This brought the two close, and quickly so, but there was still one barrier; Language. Having no reason to learn any sort of verbal communication the corlet had been a mute, and up until this moment had never met a civilized race. Sah`Calt would be the one who would teach her common, and successfully so. Firstly though, a name was in dire need for the coquettish fae, and after careful contemplation the Sheyka would give her the name Nabir`ye. The name, harmonic and melodious, was meant to be reminiscent of her playful nature. Languid days were spent learning the common language, as Sha`Calt thought most important, so Nabir`ye could communicate with various races once furthering her journey. Characteristc of the Ach`unty, Nabir`ye was treated very well by Sha`Calt, as if a daughter of his own. No prejudice against her gender was found here, though the Sheyka would warn her of other tribes and races who sought to enslave yielding girls such as her.

Each changing of season brought new and equal joy to the fae, offering gifts of devout love to her Goddess for allowing each turn of the equinox to progress. Likewise, winter and summer solstices were regarded sacred, ardently idolized and celebrated. Nabir`ye’s commemoration would go on in secret, not wishing to disturb those who had taken her in so graciously; as they had adverse religious beliefs, finding the corlet strange in her convictions. She would disappear for weeks at times, to simply re-awaken the elemental inside her. One specific excursion left the fae dancing a little too far away from the village she inhabited. This consequently left her lost, and unable to find her way back.

Once more she was at the idle hands of her Goddess, and roamed freely. Little time passed before she came across the path of a Cleric woman by the name of Tempest. A kind soul, the woman offered the fae a place to live within her homelands of Belariath, but under certain conditions. Such a condition was slavery, something Nabir`ye was unfamiliar with and truly frightened of. Luck would have that there was no ill intent impending upon the girl. It seemed to her an even trade for having items needed to sustain her life readily available, though being treated as a lesser stabbed at the girl’s spirit. The collar nonchalantly fastened around her neck was the embodiment of the supressed fire within.

Kept not much longer than a few months, she was abruptly sold to Viktor Corsarris, a high elven Paladin, with the promise that she would be treated fairly – and not senselessly harmed. Token kept – and another home for her to become accustom to. Nabir`ye was guided through substantial training to become the obedient slave her Owner wished of her. Lengthy trial and error gave way to an understanding of slavery and the proper behavior expect of the fae. Adapting tastefully to her current plight, she learned to respect and honor the One that gave her the privilege of free thought and protection. Life, it seemed, was exceptionally pleasant for a time. Never having been subjected to the horrors of rape or extensive beatings, it seemed Nabir`ye was discrepancy among the other inhabitants of Belariath. That is not to say she was not an impish terror from time to time, and punished accordingly.

Further exploration of this place rendered abominations never thought to exist by the fae. Young men and woman as herself being treated like no more than a beast, in plain daylight. She thanked Gaia every waking day for the good fortune of not haphazardly falling into the vindictive embrace of some of the other patrons in Belariath. Although, it wasn’t long before such formidable displays were brought into the household she herself resided in. At first a human, and then a drak sen, and from there the girl could not keep up with the various creatures that were seduced by her Master and subsequently used for His own devices. Such things were not for her to interfere with, and she became accustom to the guttural sounds of horror and revulsion. In time, Nabir`ye would even go as far as aiding her Master in such rituals, their prevalence yielding an eerie interest (and perhaps even pleasure) in the girl.

At times when Viktor was prone to periods of extended absences, Nabir`ye would frequent the Inn, not far from her home. Possessing a new lust for debauched screams and now blood meade, one could easily mistake her for a pixie. This alone was dishonorable and inimical to her true nature, for pixies are known as the non-believers. Nabir`ye currently seeks to counter any depraved tendencies with the progression of her innate druidic talents, receiving training from any who find her worth teaching. Creation is imperfect, and none could deny this.
