Legends of Belariath

Skye

So, young one, you wish to know about the young man known as Skye? Well, Skye's past is only in pieces, different ones scattered to the corners of the continent. He is a wandering spirit, a man whose spirit constantly desires new experiences. I have gathered rumors and stories of him for a few years now, and I will share what I know with you. Take heed however, for this is all mere speculation. Only Skye himself truly knows his entire life's story...

Skye's early years were incredibly quiet, growing up the son of a seasoned soldier father and beautiful peasant mother. He was schooled in the basic arts of combat, but mostly lived a life of quiet solitude in a small cottage away from civilization. Perhaps it was this solitude that drew fate's attention to him, for fate had a different life in store, and brought about change in a violent fury. One day, his home was brutally attacked by a band of hobgoblin bandits. His father was a skilled warrior, but a single man cannot fight off a legion of hobgoblins with only a sword. In the end, both of Skye's parents were slain, but not before Skye's father was able to deliver him into the saftey of a close friend. For the next half-dozen years, Skye would be brought up by this blacksmith.

Not long after Skye began living with this blacksmith did he discover the secret behind his caretaker, the aging blacksmith had once been a master thief. Skye became intrigued by this lifestyle and became a disciple in the thieving arts until his seventeenth birthday, when Skye finally chose to set out on his own and see the world.

It's been four years since he left home, and if the stories are true, he's been a lot of places. Skye made good on his promise to follow in his foster father's footsteps, and became a damn good thief for hire, stealing things for patrons if the price was right. He also explores ruins, sometimes plundering an artifact or two to sell.

Recently, I heard he was seen around Belariath, staying at an establishment known as the Lonely Inn. Who knows what kind of trouble he's brewing up there, but he's changed recently. He seems to be leading a bit of a double life now, trying to live a somewhat normal life inside the confines of this inn. Can he get away with it, who knows? I guess we'll just have to wait and see, IF you believe the rumors that is.
