Legends of Belariath

Trumac

Trumac was the smallest of the brood that year. It only encouraged the other kids to rule over him, pick on him, abuse him in any way they chose. The adults never offered any refuge; only telling him that if he were stronger, they wouldn't pick on him. It was a bad day when he tried to run and hide: his village was attacked by a band of 'heroes' who wiped out every thing that moved claiming that it was to protect the local elf enclave. He was found after everyone else was already killed, by the group's thief. After a brief discussion, the young mino was sold to a local travelling show as a slave.

Travelliong ewith the circus, the ringmaster made the young bull a servant for his wife, carrying heavy things, serving as a personal butler, and most humiliating, being used as her personal bathmat. The woman would chain his face to the floor so she could use his back so she wouldnt have to touch a cold floor after her bath. As he grew older, along with his strength, so did his anger at his plight. when he was strong enough, he waited until the next bath occured. it would be the only chance he had. He tore the ring from his nose and use the chain to bind his mistress, raping her, and kidnapping her and all the gold they show had gathered for the past few weeks. the mistress was left in the back alleys of the streets to be used by the beggars, the gold was left in the hands of a ship captain who promised to take the minotaur to "any place but here".

His next home was on a series of islands called Styss. It was here that he found his first home, and his first slaves. But a minotaur with problems with authority has a way of getting himself into trouble. What happened next could have been a comedy told by bards had it not been very real to Trumac.

Trumac started sleeping with the wife of a prominent nobleman. The noble discovered the impropriety and chose to kidnap Trumac's favorite slave as punishment. The noblewoman in turn discovered her husbands petty and quarrelsome act of vengeance and left him for Trumac. To punish Trumac for stealing his wife, when Trumac came to reclaim the stolen property, The nobleman burned her to death in front of him. Trumac was enraged, to the point that the he murdered the noble in his own home, skinning him alive.

Sadly, nobles do not appreciate seeing one of their own being killed by a commoner; it makes for very bad precident. Trumac was summarily sentanced to die by beheading. His properties were given to the noble's house, and his slaves were auctioned away. When the angry soldiers arrived at his doorstep, Trumac knew that there was nothing else to be done, and fled. He could never go back, and had no idea where he was headed. He lived out in the wilderness for nearly a year before he found a new place, a new empire to make his mark and thrive in.
