DETHSIRIS: THE GREAT DOME

The Temple Entrance and Tower of The Word have been heavily damaged. The foyers of each of the entrances are tattered and stripped bare of their decor. Some of the golden crowning in the main Dome center room is damaged. Carpeting along some of these hallways is trampled and dirty from the rush of people tracking in and out in emergency. There is even some blood staining here and there. Cafeterias have been working just about nonstop and providing for the people inside as well as preparing food for the Menagerie since the rooms of nourishment preparation have sustained damage. The art gallery and museum holding artifacts has been emptied and sent to a more protective area inside the Dome. The items will be returned for display when the Great Dome is restored to beautiful working order.

Image

The Menagerie sustained great amounts of damage with bent bars, fallen drystone, and escaped creatures. These have been wrangled by way of spells like Arcane Bindings, Reverse Gravity, and even Quick Foot. One of the students studying at the Tower of Knowledge had earned his graduation by unintentionally finding his path of Warrior-Mage when he needed to row in the slazird.

Image

The surrounding gardens have been razed as though rended by a giant claw. Half the hedge maze is torn up from the soil and flattened from the blast. The center of the maze still cannot be seen.

The independent areas of each tower have their own work ahead of them and are helping each other along with repairs. The local population that worked inside, outside, and on the land of The Dome are hard at work and mourning simultaneously; many students, acolytes, cadets, and interns have involved themselves with funerals and passages of life for the indigenous. The mixing of The Great Dome and native Dethsirians has been extraordinarily inspiring. Each has something to offer the other and vice versa; making the transition of loss and repair of injury and the building much smoother than expected.

Estate Valentine and Archmage update:

Thanks to the quick thinking and work of the Maids and guest of estate Valentine, The massive mansion would be mostly restored to it's former glory. Walls were patched and repaired, the outpouring of goblins, which proved to be more of a boon for the bloodthirsty Ktechlahan had been dealt with leaving plenty dead and very one sided in favour of the Ktechlahan Tribe. The 4 minotaur Maids had scoured the various parts of the empire from North South East and West and still there was no sign of the Archmage for quite some time.

Lately, however, A few people within the empire would be able to swear they heard a faint and garbled message spell that contained Miyuka's voice. It was clear that the spell had been stretched to it's very limits. Those who would hear it the strongest would be Balalaika, Miyuka's minotaur maid and primary body guard, Lord Matwyn Verkot, Lady Ronja Mapleshield, and Commander Balard of the Imperial Guard. While others would have been able to hear the message, these three specifically would feel just a bit more within the spell as it touched their ears. The Archmage was a clever woman, chosen for her sometimes mind boggling understanding of magic and so she would use the same principals used with an anchor spell to help them locate her more easily, almost like a mental compass.

The message would be very broken up and the most anyone would get out of it was "...alive....land mass...unknown...friendlies...resources..."

The message that Miyuka sent hit Ronja one evening soon after the big WHOOMPH... and the lingering sensation that had been left... this connection that drew her gaze towards the north east constantly was hard to ignore... It almost itched at her mind and she constantly feelt like she was being watched from that fixed point in the distance. The message has been recieved... and Ronja was already acting upon it. Having comitoned a ship to get ready as fast as possible shes now in the process of finding and seaking out a crew to tackle the lenghty yourney to what was previously thought to be nomansland.

A notice has been sent out...
A yourney will be taking place soon enough over the oceans towards the north west further then any previous maps... Prepare yourselves as we are on a rescue mission to fetch our beloved archmage and see what she has discovered in her absence.
Join us as we venture to the unknown.

Morgan

Shortly after Ronja's notice of a search party, another notice is put out, this with the seal of the Viceroy of the Northern Marches:

To Those Concerned,

The Viceroy of St. Eva and the Northern Marches asks for all able-bodied magical researchers, scholars, and shamans to take part in a parallel expedition to examine the "Stone Bridge" that had appeared in Valencia, and to determine its relationship to the calamity. A special appeal has been put to those who are fluent in reading/writing Goblin, as recent discoveries in that language have been found close to the structure.

This is intended to be a non-combatative group in comparison to Ronja Mapleshield's expedition, though we will accept sellswords to guard this group until their task is done.

As the heat lifted and temps returned to normal it would seem Meadows prays had been heard and Uvelcras temper had been soothed. It would take a few days for everything to cool back down to what they should be but the stifling heat was now gone and people could all take a deep breath feeling the bit of coolness returning to the land, air, and waters.

Nanthalion Forest

It was supposed to be the greatest day of Mazgata Trivona's life. The day that she and her four younger sisters would earn their souls. And indeed, it *did* happen as they sat there deep in the cave about five miles away from the farm where they all lived and worked after the untimely deaths of their parents a couple of years ago. But soon after they earned their souls, before they could even stand up, the ground shook beneath their feet. The cave began to collapse. A Divine Light appeared, and Xevious, the Tayva Din of Strength and War, appeared to them and held the pieces of the cave ceiling on his enormous back, allowing them to escape.

They came out to a nightmare. The sun gone, replaced by a purple twinkling twilight. The sky appeared to be broken, shattered somehow. When they returned to their farm, it was even worse. Every building on the property had collapsed, and their crops had burned.

Maz and her sisters knew that if they were going to survive, they'd have to take jobs in town. Maz goes out to see if she can find work as a carpenter or perhaps at the Real Estate office. She's nervous, because the Tingasi Tribe generally disdains outside society. But needs must.

Theres a rolling thunder as if one should expect a storm, and they should. With the first turning of leaves and crisper night weather comes the rains. And with the first crack of lightning.. the sky itself soon opens up and the oddity that had been a glowing seeming mist completely dissipates.

There a trilling from Mephos and many a colored wing flashes in the sun. Trumpeting and bird calls ensued.

Finally.... normality

Dethsiris Castle

Warmaster Tennibrook Balmossie, Unwavering Blade of Dethsiris, is sitting on the ground with her back against her rook Jilbo, eating some chicken jinjona in the castle courtyard when she hears a crack of thunder. She looks up, and realizes that it had begun to rain, for the first time since the Cataclysm. Then the sky clears, and the clouds return.

Before she can react, Jilbo lets out a whoop of joy and stands up, running off and flying high into the sky. Tennibrook lets out an alarmed shout, afraid that she'd never see him again, but he does a few laps around the castle, high in the sky-- much higher than the Cataclysm's Safe Limit had been established as-- and then he comes down. Tennibrook puts her arms around his neck and laughs with him. "It's over!"

Dethsiris Courtyard

Victus Ambrogio is returning from a scouting run to the north with news of the cataclysms damage and how far it seemed to reach, which frankly put is nearly everywhere though the amounts of damage across the board seem to have differed according to how things were constructed, what materials were used, etc etc...

He was just below the limit that had been established for the Cataclysm as he had been one of the first to attempt flying up into the odd mist and when he had returned he had found himself not just miles away but an entire region away from where he had started and his only explanation was that when he had become disoriented he had folded his wings in an attempt to drop toward the ground he had flown straight through one of the portals. Then he heard that thunder roll through the air around him and he looked around, not seeing a trace of clouds but knowing better than to stay in the air and becoming Roast Torian for some predator to find later so he folded his wings and angled himself down, dropping altitude quickly and darting over the wall of the castle before throwing his wings out to catch himself and that's when he felt the rain slicking off his feathers and looked up, a wide grin on his face as he realized that the unsky had vanished and in its place was clouds.

He ran his hands over his face, pushing that raven hair back and whooped with joy, joining a cacophany of mephos and others that were celebrating the return and then he launched himself back into the air, soaring as high as he could before tiring of flapping and hanging there for a long minute and then let out a bellow with every ounce of air that he could "IT'S BACK!!! THE SKY IS BACK!!!!"

Trigger warning: animal death, gore

When the world trembled, he was there. The gold elf had been a part of it, in a way, documenting every slip, every jolt of electricity, every drop of sweat the casters shed in their difficult task. The violence of the climax sent him skidding, flying back, book and quill lost to the ground as he recovered... and Caolan stared in disbelief as they succeeded in their task... and yet... the skies screamed of failure.

Trembling inside, he righted himself and knew that while the aftermath was concerning, people had been hurt among the companions gathered, so quickly he went to work. Burned lungs and damaged hearts, deafened ears, and bruised bodies, were mended while he had the chance, but the Empress demanded they leave. Immediately.

The book forgotten for someone else to use, he followed through the opened portal and was instantly heartbroken by the scene before him. Dead lay scattered and wounded climbed to their feet, everything that could be broken and scattered indeed was. It took a moment for him to digest the carnage, then after the Dragon Lady barked orders, he started calling out commands to organize aid. Severely wounded inside, slightly wounded to carry the dead, and he wasn't much concerned about who was supposed to be working inside or outside either. Bodies had to be moved, lacerations and cavities and broken bones needed mending before anything else could happen.

He spent days there, ignoring his pains and working to exhaustion several times, even nodding off during a healing session! Yet, he persevered, he ensured everyone he could heal, or resurrect, was tended to. Instructions for wound care were given to the attendants for lighter, smaller wounds. Small pouches of herbs and bottles of water were handed out to help with muscle pain as the bodies adjust...and only after things calmed down did he slip out quietly and head home.

The house that was once a simple brick home but now was tall and sprawling was not in the best of shape. The roof on one side had been taken out by a large tree falling on it, most of the windows broken, doors shattered. The porch swings were not where they were supposed to be. The bathhouse and hot spring were in shambles with soaps and beauty supplies scattered far and wide. The greenhouse and outbuilding were both destroyed, glass having been sent flying...but it was as he rounded the corner to the barn when his breath was lost and his stomach bottomed out.

The corpses of chickens were sprawled throughout the grounds, some killed by flying glass, some dead with their throats slit and hanging upside down from trees by their feet. Only one of the goats survived with a fractured leg, the other one broken in a nearby tree, and the hard-working cow? Slaughtered, guts were strewn out as if to try and carpet the ground, and her heart missing. Only Samson, his stallion, survived from his horses, with a rather bad gash on his left flank and a broken halter hanging from his neck. Buttons and the yearling foal were treated much the same as his cow.

A hand went to his mouth to cover it, the little elf staggering briefly, whimpering as things were looked over. Tears rolled down his cheeks as the golden elf moved to heal Samson, and then his goat before his mind realized that there was no barking. No howling. No yowling. Nothing. "Miss Tilly!! Aiya! Sam! Li! Mia!" He screamed their names, desperate to find his wolves, his wind walker, his Dethstrier, his cat!

Sam was the first to respond! The Dethstrier barked from afar, which made those long ears twitch and try to find the noise...a few more barks and he spun around, finding his darling pup across the river and he let out a sigh of relief. He stood and moved closer, pausing at the water's edge, "Sam, you stay there! Be a good boy, stay with Ice and Jade!" Sam seemed happy with that, and from what Cao could see he was unharmed, so he had others to find.

It was purring which greeted him next; loud and rumbling. He turned and trotted the few feet towards his darling Mia, the wind walker with a few superficial cuts but nothing terrible. He knelt before his kitten, arms wrapping around her and she was held tightly, face buried in her fur as he cried softly for a while. During this sobbing, he healed his wind walker, making sure she was okay before he kissed her on the forehead and started looking for the wolves, and Miss Tilly.

Into the house is where he started, searching under furniture, cupboards, closets, and finally in the kitchen pantry where he found a very frightened, very fat, calico tucked in behind the potato bin. It took some coaxing but eventually, she came out and was scooped, cuddled, and checked over. Some dehydration, shy a pound or two, and a little matted, but otherwise okay. Miss Tilly got kisses and cuddles, fed, watered, and brushed gently before the mats were trimmed out. He didn't even have cleaning on his mind. He needed to know his wolves were alive.

Nightfall came and went with Caolan exploring the woods around his home, whistling and calling and crying for Aiya and Li, begging and bargaining with himself, with the deities he wasn't sure he believed in, with anything that would listen! It was just before dawn when the elf stumbled home and headed for the porch, barely awake, so it took him a moment or two but then-- "Aiya! Li!" The pair were stretched out on the porch, one on either side of the door, and Miss Tilly napping on the first step. He ran, tripping over his own feet as they didn't move fast enough, crashing into the steps and hugging each wolf, relief washing over him.

Once everyone he could find and save was comfortable, fed and safe inside, the elfling moved to the kitchen and began to clean up in there. It had the most glass and dishes broken, so it was most dangerous. The elf cleaned obsessively, morning coming around before he collapsed on the couch, eyes closing. He hadn’t received a fae, he hadn’t been rushed a message by a rider, and he hadn’t gotten a magical message either. He assumed those he considered his were okay, or at least somewhere they were taken care of. He slept, soundly, halfway through scribbling out a letter…

When the stars were supposed to be our again was when he woke, rubbing his face. The animals were fed, then he restarted the letter he had been working on, and wrote several others to go with it. They were rolled up and sealed, then he called for a fae and sent the letters off to the far corners of where ever they needed to be.

One was addressed to Droyn, stating his love for the ranger and apologizing but he had to leave again. Please take care of his goat, and Samson, and he would leave some coins to help pay for feed, and if he could coax Miss Tilly inside his own home to make sure she was safe.

The next letter was to Ice across the river, asking her very kindly take care of Sam, as it was far too dangerous where he was going to take him. A small bag of coins would be left by the river so she could be compensated for his keep, and that he would miss her and be back as soon as he could.

Erin was written to thirdly, and he asked her to stay away from the house, for her own safety. If she needed to collect anything to please bring someone with her, and to take a small pouch of coins he’d leave on her dresser. Then he apologized for going in her room, and he wished her well.

Yuri, the adorable little fox, got a letter now. As with Erin’s letter, he asked him to stay away from the house, and if he needed to collect his things please do so with someone with him, and there would be a bag of coins. Another apology for going in his room, that he loved him, and wished him well.

Next came a letter to the Empress herself. Sincere apologies were conveyed for his having to leave the palace when he did, as he considered it far too soon. Another apology was issued for being unable to assist in further adventures with her selected few, and he told her the rough area of where the journal had been left so it could be used by someone else. He even offered to refund some of the coins she had given him to help and said he would do that upon his return if desired.

His final letter went to Lady Vexademus once more with apologies. He explained he had been tending to the chaos at the palace in previous days and was unable to make it to Dethsiris, and that he currently would be unable to assist as he needed to handle some family affairs before he can return. The elf stated that if she felt the need to replace him as part of the Tower of the Way, he would absolutely understand and issue his pre-emptive resignation if so desired.

A letter go each of his bosses, Miss Babi and Miss Hannah, respectively. He apologized for being unable to assist with any damaged done, but something vital had come up and it required his immediate attention. He wasn’t too sure how long he would be gone, but he would return as soon as possible.

Yandel’s would be the final letter sent. He apologized again, and gave a brief statement that explained the slaughter of his animals and that he only knew one person who could be responsible. No one in the Empire disliked him enough to kill his livestock, at least not that he was aware of, so he had to go and put a stop to this once and for all. Another bag of coins left for him, and asked if he could please stay away from the house, just in case.

Others.. he couldn’t think of anyone that would worry, or that would have the chance to miss him considering the chaos. He moved about the house and property again, setting down bags of coins for those who were told about them, then he began to pack. Clothes he wasn’t all that worried about, his leather armor tied on. He packed on every weapon he could get his hands on, gearing up as though he were heading to war… and in his mind, he was. Daggers strapped to legs instead of tucked in boots, quarterstaff wrapped to ensure a firm grip. The circlet was woven into his hair, the wrist crossbow was mounted on his off hand, quiver of bolts strapped to his hip. His bag was crammed full of bandages and herbs and small bottles of water he could use, a bit of food, and his winter cloak. The rain cloak was draped over the bag, and his regular cloak slung around his shoulders. He confirmed his boots were on properly, giving them a brief kick against each other, then a stomp.. deep breath.. he looked to make sure that nothing was left behind.

Caolan Leafwhistle tromped down the stairs then, giving a whistle for his wolves and wind walker, looking over the house one more time, left in chaos and disarray, damaged and broken everything scattered about. Despite all this, he still locked the door behind himself, giving Miss Tilly some affection as he said, “I’ll miss you, baby girl, but it’s not safe. Stay alert, okay?” A kiss for her head, as though she could understand him, and then he turned and started on his way.

He thought of all the people he was leaving behind, the people he cared for despite how they felt a out him, the ones who were lost to the world that may never return… and he sniffled. A deep breath, his shoulders squaring and his expression changed, hardening. The love and tenderness he always showed being pushed aside, the happiness and joy he tried to live with every day abandoned as he walked with his companions. Vengeance was on his mind, and one of them would have to die, and come what may, this elf would have blood and ashes on his hands before he returned home.

Six days ago.

Il Mutah Har

Wade stood on the mountains' peak, the blank sky staring like the pupil of some great angry gods' intent gaze; the seas rolled and pitched but nothing else was to be seen. He had been called here, but not by any voice that was familiar to him, still Wade answered the summons because he felt compelled to. Flying across the world he had landed here and now he heard the voice call out to him again: Wade....

Climbing down the worn, ancient rocks Wade followed the voice, it called every now and again but finally, Wade found it: His hammer, a forging hammer he had enchanted (and, helped enchant) sat in the center of a perfectly round, mirror-smooth pool of water that should have been impossible; it was six inches deep and a size where if he wanted to reach the hammer, he would have to step into it.

And so, he did vanishing from the world in a crack of thunder and lightning, only to find himself beside it in a foggy shoal with water reaching endlessly in the whiteness. At the same time, the skies of the world he had know his entire life, Belariath, swept back into place, and a sense of jubilation washed across the land void of one of its' own. Coincidental as it might be, none could know for sure.

Somewhere a pale blue sun illuminated the world in a soft azure light Wade now gazed upon in utter bewilderment, he KNEW he wasn't anywhere in the known world..

Wade....

The voice spoke to him again without form. "Who are you?" Wade says, shouting into the mists.

I, am the Everlasting Sky. And the time has come for me to claim my champion.

"The hell you say. I am nobodys' to claim." Wade took a fighting stance, his hands crackled a moment before it pulsed, stuttered then died completely.

I gave you your power. Before you belonged to Trieste, you belonged to Me. She asked of me a champion worthy to rebirth a new world and a new faith. To assist in expanding and growing the old and infusing the new. You -did- more than you know. I, was what powered that all though you served her.

"Wait.. whoa, hit the brake. You're the source of my magic, arent you?" Wade began just talking to the mist, still unsure this wasnt an illusion or maybe.. he was dead. "it was that fucking dagger, wasn't it?"

A chuckle emanated from the fog.
Well, kind of. All the same, you are needed elsewhere. Pick up the hammer, Wade, and we will begin.

"Ok, no." Wade says, waving his hands. "I have a wife. I have a home, thats in the middle of a catac-"

No, it isn't. what do you think that was? As for LayTrayin, she will be protected. And should she truly need you, I will transport you to her. You are not needed there, now. Your time in that world is done for now.

"Send me home!" Wade moves to draw a dagger only to remember, he had buried them. and his armor. "Well.. Fuck. Send me home." he still says forcefully and a light chuckle pulses from the fog.

You are everything I made you. unflinching even in the face of complete and total failure which, I should add, is a recurring theme with you.

there was a momentary sigh.

Still, that undying drive forward is what elevates you above your peers, and thats not your only virtue, despite many, many and constant, failings. Wade uth Matar, Savi'atar of Trieste, Teacher, craftsman, soldier, spy.. Pick up the Hammer. It is time.

Wade listens and then flatly he says, "I want to go home." he says, "I want to see
my wife, work in my distillery. that is my life; a life of quiet tedium (although, the last weeks were an exception) where the world mostly forgets I'm there."

Thats' the problem. Pick up the Hammer, Wade, it is time to leave the chrysalis. It is time for you to truly fly. Your distillery will go on, Lay will keep it safe. its all been arranged.

Wade considered this. then he says, "At least show yourself. so you can look me im the eye and say that, to my face." Knowing he was outgunned, out powered and frankly, up a proberbial creek he figured he may as well be himself.

A moment later, in the distance, Wade saw movement and he squinted to get a better look. Closer it came until finally, a figure wearing a strange formal outfit of entirely pale blue steps out of the fog. Semi-long reddish-brown hair with grey frosting here and there framed a lined, somber face that was partially obscured by a somewhat long red and grey beard. The figure held out his hands a moment.

Not what you expected, am I?

"Not really." Wade took a step closer, his eyes gleaming now with a murderous intent, all he needed was to see an enemy, and get his hands around there neck. "You're shorter than I expected." The fogure before him was a good half-foot shorter than he. With that Wade coils and leaps.. only to land in the watery surroundings.

Not so fast. The only way you are gonna kill me, is to pick up that hammer and hit me.

Wade reaches for it by instinct, then pulls his hand back. "Ohhh it won't be that easy." He spits, turning only to realize his quarry was quite out of reach: several feet above Wade, floating.

Wade. You, are meant for more. Pick up the Hammer.

"No!" Wade shouts and for a moment the skies rumble in the distance. "I.. Don't understand why I have to give up my life."

Its' just a game, Wade. And you've reached your best possible potential here, now its time for the next step. Those things you leave will be cared for by those who knew you, and cared for you. But now, I need -You- to be.. More. And, if worse comes to worse and the world tries to end itself; I promise you can go and at least be with her.

Wade nods. "Take care of her. Take care of -them-," Wade motions to the nothingness as if it had substance, "I'm ready." Wade walks over and kneels down on one knee, and reaches for the large hammer sitting handle up, thrumming with electricity. The second his hand grasps the handle there is a blast of rainbow colored light and both man and hammer vanish. The endless water ripples a few moments, then is still.

Go get 'em, Tiger.
