Into the Hearth

The two massive doors would appear grey in the lowlight, however in the day, they would be the same white as the stones of the road. Each door at least two feet thick, one would seem to be entering a fortress of some sort. Twenty feet into the hall, a second set of doors would be present, swinging the opposite way. Mounts would have stables outside the temple and be cared for and warmed by attendants. Along each side of the hall, every few feet stood more of the guards, fully at attention, eyes cast straight ahead as if in a trance, but watching all.

The first of the paintings show not the tallest of the Gods and yet he is forged within the lava sculpting itself. Hard of body and muscle, dark red wavy hair that was always set free and wild. Eyes of a smoldering grey to match the ash he could spew from his mountains and his favored weapon, a Hammer, Angdor-ews, to slam into the mountain itself and make it do his bidding.

Beyond the second doors, the first of a series of paintings would be revealed. Newly re-mastered, directly onto the walls of the Temple, they would seem animated and life like, eyes seeming to watch and lips moving. The second depicted a couple in a lover’s embrace. With a volcano in the background, a grove of beautious plants and flowers surrounded them. The male a man of well built stature, red flowing hair and beard, which seemed to always be moving as if in a constant wind. His body seemed to be well built, but not overly massive, more like a master of creation than a warrior. His eyes seemed to contain every essence of fire and more, as if purity of the element was looked upon when his gaze was met. The woman with him was as beautiful as the spring and her hair was as green as the newly grown grass. Nature itself seemed to cloth her, yet at the present it seemed she was without them. Ecstasy filled both their faces as they lay embraced in passion.

The third painting details a tunnel scene, an army seemed to be moving through it. Skin of gray and hair of white, the soldiers were moving toward a valley of villages. Similar to the the one seen below, the tunnel seemed to be collapsing. In the back ground, the same male figure would be pictured, swinging a hammer at a silverish anvil. Seeming that the hammer contacted the anvil and the tunnel collapsed on the army, the figure smiling as a spider in the lower left corner seemed to have an irate look upon its face.

The fourth painting showed the same male figure with a frown upon his face. A spider sat upon his shoulder whispering into his ear. They both watched as an army led my a handsome, massive figure moved into the valley and faced little resistance. The people were subjugated and the villages claimed by the figure.

The fifth depicted the outline of a blacksmith at the forge, the great hammer Angdor-ews in his hands. The blacksmith was well built and with massive arms. His hair and beard the color of grain, singed and shortened, hair curling from the ash of the forge. Working at the anvil, his muscles would flex and arms move in the actions of creation. Apparently, he is forging a great weapon, however where sword would be is only an outline of a massive sword.

The sixth picture prior to an expanding opening into the Great Hall would seem to be a strange picture. It depicts the great god passing the mithril pick, Angdor-ews, to a massive black dragon, scales seemingly made of black glass. If one were to feel the wall, the picture of the dragon would be in obsidian, the jewel of the volcano. Ruby red eyes burning with the same fire the god has in his eyes, as if the soul was a kindred spirit to the great god.

Passing this point, the corridor would open into the Grand hall. Around the hall, stood more guards, attired as those that welcomed one into othe temple, pikes standing at attention. In the middle of the Grand Hall, there would be several benches, some available for sitting. Beyond this, a great Mithril anvil would be the focal point of the great hall, demanding every eye look upon it. Beyond the anvil, an orange glow would be seen and every few moments, a burp of lava would shoot up and drop back down. However, no sulfur smells or noxious fumes would be detected, only a comfortable warmth would be felt throughout the temple. Before the Anvil, there kneeled a figure, not overly large, but seemingly bulky. A cloak covered this figure whose head was knelt in prayer and nothing would seem to disturb him.
