03[18:59] * Kuma sets mode: -o Kuma
01[19:02] <+Kuma> The snow brushed against his thick arms as he passed, a dark wraith that stalked the lessor known paths for the quarry he needed. The wolven's back was burdened with the tools of this trade, axe, saw -- hunting instruments that were hand crafted and the necessary bait. The agenda was a busy one, but since Gilda was within the town, he saw to it he would be close as well. There was a faint pause, ...
01[19:02] <+Kuma> ... nostrils flaring to catch the scents of the thick, noiseless woods, shifting his weight to set down the first of many traps; rope uncoiled, bait set down and his figure hunched as he prepared the trap.
06[19:03] * +Kuma stood, checking once more before he would haul his items against a thick shoulder, moving to town so he could finish a few things.

06[19:54] * +Kuma returned to the forest, patting his pocket where the rings were settled and pulled the sled he had purchased behind him. It would do to help carry the heavier carcasses and wood he felled, making tracks in the snow that he would not worry about for now. The snowfall would cover it. He moved to the direction he had set down his traps, pushing the sled into the shadow of a fallen tree before ...
01[19:54] <+Kuma> ... removing his wrapped spear and wrist crossbow; checking it for bolts, before he quickly snaked up a tree. From here, he would wait for signs of the moving herd..

06[20:02] * +Kuma scented the air, nostrils flaring as he set about positioning his wrist crossbow - sure that soon he'd need to upgrade the weapon, hell, all his armor.. but for now, he focused on waiting. Wait he did, keeping himself down wind before the first tell-tale signs of action, though the darkness concealed the migration of deer, he could see the outline of shadows - sharp vision filling in the ...
01[20:02] <+Kuma> ... rest as they slowly began to wander past his position.

06[20:16] * +Kuma shifted his position and began to slowly move down the tree, quieter than before, his spear settled along his side as he moved in the direction of the herd. The scents assaulted him, saliva pooling in the back of his mount tinted in salt and that faint tinge the air gave off.. black as night, covered in leathers, he crouched low as he stalked them, waiting until he could bridge the distance ...
01[20:16] <+Kuma> ... before he could determine which animal to cull from the rest.

06[20:29] * +Kuma saw what he wanted, ears flicking back to check on the sounds around him even as he pulled his spear upwards.. sliding unerringly forward. He was a master of this domain, knowing little else, crouching so shadows and scents were hidden beneath winter and tangled boughs.

06[20:41] * +Kuma picked up his pace, moving with the herd as he began to cut into it.. they had not picked up his scent, which was good. The wolven, crouching as he moved, carefully came up along side the smaller male, its antlers barely broken through. Lips peeled back, snarling, he would keep pace and just as panic would begin to flow into the running animals he would heft his spear; a jerk of muscled ...
01[20:41] <+Kuma> ... shoulder before sending it careening for the loping creature.

06[20:53] * +Kuma did not let go relinquish the spear until he felt it hit muscle, a cry splitting the air from the deer as it stumbled, then went down.. the mithril weapon sticking from its haunches. Kuma growled, withdrawing dagger, and then he jumped, aiming to come down hard upon the animals back.. bringing it down with his weight, cutting into jugular and throat to finish the job.

06[21:01] * +Kuma panted, waited, exhaled before he would stash his dagger and then pulled his spear free of the deer's clutching body. It remained limp, and quickly he would rope it off, moving back to where the sled was so he could haul it home.
06[21:07] * +Kuma continued to haul the deer to the cabin, breath frosting the air.. turning a sharp corner, he glanced around, to insure no-one followed him. Then, he would pull the sled around back, removing the carcass and setting to letting it hang from the tree out back. Here, he would set a pan beneath, the cut two deep cuts into the animal, letting it drain while he got his knives out.

06[21:14] * +Kuma would return, knives in hand, and working around the hanging deer carcass, he would begin to carefully remove the thin outer layer of skin.. scraping over fat, making several inward cuts to allow better easement over limbs. He wanted as much of the hide intact as possible, sure it would fetch some coin or make a soft velvet-like material for Gilda.

06[21:21] * +Kuma would stretch the skin across his work station, a portable stretcher which he set aside. Then he would begin to cut into the carcass into managable pieces, leaving the organs, bones and other portions for things like stew, bait.. discarding the stomach, and setting the bone aside to be boiled. The chunks of meat soon found themselves a pile, his breath frosting the chilled air in puffs of ...
01[21:21] <+Kuma> ... vapor as he continued to work..

[21:34] * +Kuma would bundle up the meat, keeping it high were predators could not reach. That done, he would move inside, setting a pot to begin boiling spring water so he could toss the bones in.. then he moved to begin work on the hide, the first stages of curing it.
