Saybera's Ink Blots

*:Providence Sets Sail:*

The chilling rain is beating down
Pelting the ship and all around

While she stands there waiting
Wretched, in icy showers bathing

She holds a flower in her hand
Gazing at the shattered land

And though it's true, she is crying
You cannot see, for the rain is blinding

You look at her but do not believe
Whatever she's revealed to be

You cannot cope with our lady, you see
With our broken ship, the Liberty

For this is greater and magnificently so
We've all prayed for this and watched it grow

A mere flower from a seed of hope
Somber silence casting shadow, we know weeds can choke

We all called out her shame
Some of us knew her name

She readily accepts her fate, and takes the blame
This wicked charade was only a game

Greet yon merry beach, please the wanton shore
Praise us for we stayed this reckless course

The Pirate's risk, the ship man's chore
For not in vain did we explore!

:*In Praise of Nixies*:

The counsel of gods and goddess
called their meeting to order
We've made these little humans
in our image, what now for them?

Sad little beings they are
Lost and forlorn looking
They do need something
said the Goddess of Mirth, But what?

they gathered together and discussed
We'll send them divine gifts
like love and trust!

by pale of moon, sparkled sky
winged beasties began to fly
across the hint of starry night
in soaring, weightless flight

as they dip across the ground
dusting of wings, without sound
one dragon is the herald of fire
his essence and purpose to inspire
he leaves a trail of oranges, and reds
the spring of passion, is now fed

the next dragon brings forth
a most diligent chore
his mission is to spread
the star glistened shine of loyalty

Each dragon with a purpose
giving forth the many gifts
but at last it was time to send
love among the human men and women

Purity spoke softly
This is not a job for the dragons, I think
something more delicate should bespeak
this is the tenderest of all the gifts
It should arrive tenderly and slowly
as the sun peeks the horizon

Soon thereafter they looked to see
a group of Nixies smiling with glee
we'll take love down to the humans!
we've a magical chariot to carry it in!

Their job is never done
a continual passage over time, unsung

So on a clear night,
when the moon is right
if you see a shooting star
its the pixies bringing love in their chariot

:*His Eyes*:

You hear songs all of the time, refined
about someone searching trying to find

A distinct parallel of their heart, soul, and mind.
Some small presence, link, some like kind

It was that easy, that serene
All he had to do was look at me

I found myself there in his eyes
All of his truth, erasing the lies

and though it came as quite a surprise
I found myself there in his eyes

You sometimes search and read poetic songs
someone trying to find them self, erelong

Longing for touch, love, smiles, and self
posing and sitting like books on a shelf

He and I have been friends for a long time
He’s broken through this heart of mine

Only he could find a way to intertwine
Our hearts together like rose and ivy vine

I found myself there in his eyes
To hear him tell it, I was there all the time.

:*Mephos Hatching*:

Fourteen fathoms soon lay encased
in encrusted gire
heirs beckoned
a dragons wait
molten cinders nest with nudges and hiss
to rise
their only desire

waves dumb above move sands
offer to ready the steamy belch
squeal and muted screams hushed deep down
In grains, in clay, in glass and mud
forming still
and morphing slow
all in eager rush

fed not since first laid
stewed and spat
deeper still arise to whet
hunger from three thousand years
struggling, bubbling and tearing
they turn
they pull
they seer

lethargic and mad they dance
strained new muscles rack and twindle tear
muffled cries in egglike rocks
a pop and sputter where sodium bear
witness to a hellish den
layered hundreds
perhaps thousands more
skydriven
instincts bend

stifled
all at once they resign
only to all commence again
some do not dare
longing for a species rising
through the ocean
to the air!

:*The Ehlanna Storm*:

There is not an ounce of disgrace in her pursuit
She strides about with her memory and mind for a mere tipping in the end
She is quicker than the sipper and the downer of the mead

Not a woman to change herself for your amusement
and quiver and then do it again for a different lovely
She is woman incarnate, and quintessentially so
She carries herself close to the edge yet never passes over
She delights all who order a gown and doesn’t judge their choice

To one hundred men it is not a measure of who is thusly satisfied
It is a deliberate measure of her take on the man who is that night full of lies
There may be thunderstorms inside her
But she keeps her oar as steady as Ehlanna creates stir

She brings patience when she can
She shocks the middle man
She will bring water to you who is caught-up
and leaves you to think about things you've never thought about

There may be more inside her
but she keeps these notions cleverly inside
I would never creep just there
It is a bar after-all and not the proper place for there

This is how I see Ehlanna:
She is kind and deserving
A creative force of temptation
Artistic, imaginative, of creation.

Alabaster haired goddess.

:*The Beginning*:

Everyday she smiled and did what she was told.

Everyday she felt she was getting old.

Everyday she was one step away.

Everday she remained afraid.

Everyday her silence grew.

Everyday she wanted just one "I love you."

One day the clouds went away.

One day the sky was no longer grey.

One day she saw the blue.

One day she knew the truth.

One day she tried to smile.

One day for just a while.

Someday she'd walk the path to the gate.

Someday she knew could come too late.

Someday she'd open it wide.

Someday she'd step outside.

Someday she'd walk away.

Someday, but not today.

:*Darkness Quickens - A Dedication to Belariath*:

Darkening skies herald the moment
I alone in blanketed covenant
Watched the eruptions play across the sky
Streaking the inky black with illumination

The book I once was reading
Now discarded by my seating
Careless, I know
My eyes alight to candle’s glow

Flickering, here, in a kind of sated bliss
Envelopes me closely in this
Uninspired state of mind
No thinking necessary, I find.

I've already wandered the corridors
Of my mind's attics,
I’ve trailed lithe fingertip pads
Over the cool, stone walls

I’ve looked for those lost thoughts
That need to be recaptured,
Dusted off and brought back into the light.
Perhaps with love, light and rain...
They may grow again.

:*Driftwood*:

The touch of your absinthian hand, I muse
Haunts me, lingers still, a strange warmth
and yet - I deduce
that you will touch me again
You leave me yet the want to learn,
Evermore from you, I crave and yearn
Just or unjust, damn it all to hell
I pray thee welcome into mine heart!
For I warrant - there be no righteous lingering,
I want only your grace to kiss my mouth
I wish to see if at long last I will be fulfilled
Intellectually, emotionally.
Is this rational thinking then?
Tell me is this what the sea rushes to shore for?
Merely a glimpse for it to only slide back out once again?
When then must I be the one standing on the shore?
Take me into thy loving arms and pose me within thy vessel
If not only to be driftwood in thy vastness.
If nevermore to see dry land, then let me drown
Let me become one with thee, entangled for eternity.

:*Unkissed Saybera*:

Dewy mist lifted off the water, casting an ethereal presence
She dipped but just one toe into the water to check its coolness;
Her laughter broke the silence, sounding like wind chimes
Jumping back, almost loosing her footing, she recoiled and tried again
But further deep she crept, slow and precise, holding breath for twenty beats
Release and smirk, step again this time to find footing, to define the water bed

He watched her there, from the shade of a tree, as he nibbled an apple sweet
He noticed her movements so graceful, succinct, her hair, the wet ballet of her feet
An ardent fan of the female frame, she holds both allure and poise
Something is wild, some movements tame, is she kind?
Should he make a deliberate noise?

Clueless to his gaze, she continued into the crystalline waters
Her body adjusted to the chill wherein she noted blossom spill
And all around her stood, trees, in guardianship good
A canopy, her own, to permit her entry go unnoticed..

Will his lips finish what his eyes have started?
Will she give way to his sense of interest growing, should he make a move at all?
His tooth pierced another silent seed She sinks softly to her thighs.
He chooses temperance over haste, he decides, reluctantly
To drink her in.

Soft as rice her stance now supported
Her waistline lowered surrounded by flowers and pads and petals assorted
In a rush of twirps and trills, a rush of blue birds then surround
flying in tornadic swirl, dipping low and all around
then flittering to find a seat with a view to watch he and she

She remains unaware still. Why should he disturb this visage, this moment.
Disturbance of such clarity is surely a crime from deep within
Universal courts would gladly say, leave her be, leave her be.
Knees bending, he lowers himself so slow his muscle burns like sin

Acclamation complete, position met, she bows her head back and dips
Her head submerges, her hair spreads on the waters top
gently pushing.the petals aside
She reclines, she is serene, she is water warm in cool mist
He decides to resist, forgo his wanting and leave her unkissed.

:*Word Painter*:

I looked upon this blank canvas
I thought of the scene I wished to bring to life
upon the smooth surface
I thought of the snow capped mountains
standing proudly in the background
and then I thought of the brilliance
of the sun I would place...oh just so
I looked over all my colors therein
I found them all to be black and white
No life no sparkle
Flat and plain
I lay my brush down and sat back
I was all but ready to give up
Then you came into my life
Your eyes became my illumination
Your touch of love and warmth
became my purples
Your kisses were the sweetest of reds
and then your smile...became my sun
how it burns so brightly
even through the days that seem so dark

What IS Love? A Bardess Ponders

To the young girl:

Love is the filmy mist of dreams
Love is promises sweet, love gives her wings
Love is the song, the light, every chance
Love is the motion, movement, it makes her dance.

To the Lady:

Love is a quickness of breath, and expectation
Love is the hope of a vivid, long lasting, consummation
Love is captivation, awe, of love's own sake
Love is the willing decision to never escape

To the Matron:

Love is a thing of the past, a memory bittersweet
Love is the echoed prayer uttered most discrete
Love is the comfort in knowing the truth
Love is the one thing wasted on youth

To the slave who loves slavery's intricate chain
love is the fortress in which they sleep

To the slave who hates its slavery
its the prison and dungeon of love's doubt

To the whore:

Love is a myth, a song, a tale, a fable
Love is the conversation, money on a table
Love is the smile while she counts her til
Love is not real, nor true, but sold for mehrial

To us all:

Love is the captivation, cure and woven spell
Love is the path, and rain-soaked road to hell
Love is the faction and the masses' cry
Love is the black winged covetous lie!

Or is it?
