Moragan Hamr Proverbs...

Postby Kaytoo on Tue Dec 19, 2023 7:51 pm

Hi folks;
Been a while, and I hope all is well with those I know, and those I don't.
My last offering here was horrific, and I don't have the time to rewrite it or anything else I generated for Belariath. I say that since I have spent the last many years improving my writing, and hopefully what I've written of late is at least passable as uhMerican.

An online friend over the past couple years helped me with editing a dystopian novel series I've written and other short pieces. We met after he read a rewrite of some work I have here (entered in a contest), and loved it. Throughout, he pressed me to let him add it to his site, and in the process, it expanded to a very short novel (53k words).

Sprinkled throughout I've added Hamr Proverbs by Moragan of the North, one of the Hamr Gods and founder of the clan. These (among others) are chiseled into Moragan's Pillar, near the glacier, to guide faithful Hamr.

They read rough, yet the Hamr language (which has now massively expanded) does not phrase the same. I've tried to write Hamr so it reads more like English to help. Hopefully they'll add a bit of depth and insight to any left who have a Hamr character.

Hey, good to see you.

I would love to get the name of your books, so I can look them up and buy them if published. Or just a link so I can read them.

Hi Infernis;

I'm currently unpublished except for some very old, poorly written work in a few international sexual genre magazines. Old work of mine was primarily smut. I've spent all these years getting thoroughly beaten-up by those who know how to write to improve my skills. I think--others may argue--I've significantly improved and am ready to start soliciting rejections, hehe.

My current work is more mainstream sci-fi, western, themed flash fiction, and the dystopian novel series I mentioned. I had them all on a secure area of a development forum, which I have now left and removed them. It was a sex story site, and since even my later work often has sex as part of it (even when not explicit), it allowed me to get feedback without offense. Unfortunately, they began to allow content I found unacceptable--which drew a large crowd looking for such content. So, my last work there I entered a 1,000w contest with my only attempt at horror as a big FU and left (if you'd like to read that or other shorts, I could PM it to you).

That said, much of the short stuff and that D-novel series, I hope to start submitting soon to publishers to kick me around a bit.

The above story, Path to a True Calling, -I believe- will be published as a free PDF on that editor's site. Once it is, I'll contact Stormbringer first and ask if I may link to it (directing people off-site is not ideal). Though it uses elements I developed for Belariath, it stays distant enough that I don't infringe on this site and members' copyrights.

Good to hear from you!
