Darius, the vulpine healer, delivered the body to the temple of Gaea, having stumbled across it. He tried to heal it as best as he could, and figured Gaea was a good temple, because don't all elves like nature? Tucked into a rolled up sleeve is a very roughly written note (some of the letters are even written backwards).

"You elveses shoulddnt dreenk so much. Its bahd 4 yous! Bee moor carefull next tiime! ~Darius"

Pleased with himself, Darius turns and left the body just outside the grove to be found, hopefully before some animal found it.

(Sorry, this is assuming the body was easily found in the inn, given the nature of the death. If not, then disregard.)
