*The lands of the Platinum Feather Tribe cross over the lands of at least two other tribes, though those ones are not as well known. All of them tend to have grievances with each other dating back generations. Yet none of the tribes have explanations in their lore about how their mutual hatred for the wolven and the vulpani came to be. It is almost as if it grew with the land, with each of the different tribes and clans enslaving members of the others... including random wolven and vulpani.*

my father's father standing guard
against the spirits of the old ways
which would intrude upon this time
when the wise ones of our tribe
gather us who will be next to lead
and show us many small secrets
of our tribe and our land both

will this be my first Walk With Elders
and have I waited long for this day
dress of doeskin upon my slender form
with beads and sacred stones sewn on
garment handed down from my mother
to me for this moment to pass with honour
as will I be named one of the chosen few
to be Warden of Hearth and History

and as the apple trees grow in autumn
so shall my knowledge of what makes this land
all the wonderful things I know as home
from the brooks that sparkle like crystals
to telling storm's approach by taste of wind
a lifetime of little things from soil to sky
which give my tribe their precious place
never disturbed by the follies of the city folk
remaining pure for generations before me

yet did I understand naught of these gifts
when first was I kissed upon shoulder softly
by the spirits of ancestors amused and thoughtful
fought I without thinking their decision upon me
as great hunter of stag did I wish to become
though now has my heart calmed and prayed
understanding what wisdom the spirits possessed
as my treasures within shall bless my tribe
the more I learn of what is my place and time

will the bluebird sing for me in spring
and my favourite hill be coated in green again
just like when I was but mere child running
o'er fields with flowers blooming so brightly
but will I now frolic within the meadows
leading those who will be my tribe's future
kneeling within a circle of tents risen
singing praise and peace to the gods above
for is all this land our haven and shelter
from low lying stream to mountains far
and are we the most blessed to live here
instead of cities made for frail and weak
