*There is a long history between jealousy, envy, and the magical forces. People have always wanted to become stronger than others, faster, better. It is these desires that motivate them to move towards different avenues that will provide them with an advantage over others. Often enough, that leads those who are physically weaker to the sorcerous arts. Of course, those naturally born strong scoff at the wizardly ways... up until they find themselves drowning standing up, burning in the middle of winter, or swallowed by a field of corn.*
The Liability Is Fairly Limited In The Tower
by Ruidyynäh, dancer for many, beloved by two, and secret keeper of one long dead
have I known many by name and by voice
and my heart pounding to hear one or two
with their tongues able to weave such wonders
and my heart soars with every note they hit
but when the night is done and I am alone
does my chest ache as if hit with a stone
no tears will I weep while carrying my song
unless the woe from the tale saddens me enough
but shall love of my craft reach every portion
as my body entrances the small gathering
yet does loathsome crawling sensation within
still taunt and harass my softened skin
am I not the greatest coryphee within this land
nor shall I ever perform before the Emperor's own
as not all are chosen for such gracious an honour
which must I accept as will of the goddess above
even while another whom I once knew before
has received accolades from Nobles galore
cold lump of coal forms right beside my heart
making it harder for me to breathe and believe
my art of movement and music shall e'er reach higher
while those I know have not trained as hard move past
my little fists ball up and hatred well inside
must always I force myself to swallow this pride
though how do I stop these maddening dreams
of those who have surpassed me waving back
mockery in their eyes and poison on their tongues
whispering to my failing ways and fallen hopes
at least do I wake up to two who veraciously
will tell me to my death how much they love me
