Auto login for mIRC users

Postby Rebecca of Valaris on Mon Nov 21, 2016 8:49 am

I know it's not a huge hassle to login into Nickserve and then login to Des...but I'm frightfully lazy!

So, at the risk of repeating what others may have already said (doesn't think so, but it never hurts to get your apologies out in front!) the following might be useful for mIRC users.

Go to the menu at the top and then:

Tools, Options, Options, Perform (it's a box on the right) then type in to the blank box:

/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password
/join #lonely_inn_ooc
.msg Desdaemona !login password Nick

..and *boom*. Next time you open mIRC...you're logged in and straight in the OOC.

Hope this might be of some use. :)

<edit>
Small point, it's not Nick you use in the !login command, but rather it is character name; which you only need if your IRC nick and character name do not match exactly.

Oops. Thanks Ehlanna!

With my nick and character name being the same there was a lazy assumption on my part.

(See! Said I was lazy!)

I think there's another concern as well. I think if you use a custom host mask there needs to be a delay between login to nickserve and joining the channel/logging into Des. I noticed with mine, i've been using the above for years, that Des would Voice me, but then treat me as not logged in.

Thanks Scout. Good point

I -think- if you inserted a delay command like:

/timer 1 5

in between the nickserve login and joining that would work? The second number I -think- sets the number of seconds. But I'm no expert on this. I just know the first post works for me.
