The "Magic Eye" idea... it's no illusion!

Postby Lucas-Kain on Wed Feb 17, 2010 8:38 pm

I had an idea for an item I could have my character purchase and because I have not seen others with similar things, I wanted to make sure it was allowed. I cannot think of a good reason why not, but that is why I ask first! :)

Basically, I wanted to get a "fake eye" made of Mithril and enchanted with the permanent spells "Detect Illusion", "Detect Magic" and "Sleep Watch". More or less just a replacement for a glass eye, with some fun little twists added in to make it far more useful than a vanity!

Any thoughts or ideas about this?

That sounds pretty cool! One would first have to lose an eye first though...hahha

Please... I loose eyes all the time! Why, just last week I was in the general store, and this halfling walks by and bumps into me; it wasn't until an hour later I realized he'd pick pocketed me and gotten my eye! Of all the nerve! *sighs dramatically*

I'm not seeing a problem with this. Remember, it would be x4 for the price of the enchantments to make it permenant.. and of course the price of the mithril eye which could get a bit expensive but all in all its character development and within the realms of keeping to the rules. Just like having a pendent with all the enchantments. Make sure those spells are on the Enchant list of course.

Permanence: Permanent Enchantments mean that the effect will always be in effect. There is no cost to stamina; however any enchantment that is made permanent will significantly increase the cost of the enchantment by 4 times its regular amount. Only works for Stat Enchantments and Stat potions.

The only problem I see on it is the bolded part part. This is from the Enchantments page, though honestly, it seems hit or miss whether the person selling enchantments follows this or not.

Well...

If spells are not allowed to have "permanence" that would change things a little. However, I do not know one way or the other, and such determinations are well above my pay-grade, so to speak.

A good question now is;

Can OOB/Anywhere spell effects be permanent?

An iteresting idea. Could it work as a MIoP?

It seems fairly hefty for an mIoP, of course, I would suggest you grab sutara sometime to ask her directly. It could, however, be modified for a regular IoP when you reach that level without much problem.

MIoP's tend to be single ability items at most, so for three spells it wouldn't really fit, although the idea of it as a Special Item of some sort, IoP, Relic or higher if approved is a definate possibility

It work better as an IoP rather than an miop, where a mIoP is usually limited to one ability.
