Magical Mentoring

This is designed to provide those who want an IC reason for IC advancement in their magicks and spell abilities, to be able to find others who might be willing to teach and train them to provide such reasons. This is not to state that it is the only method of advancement, just one such version of it.

It is linked to the two towers, Unigo and Umbara, and as such would be overseen by the HM/AHM/Imperial Archmage.

Mentors - In order to gain access to the illusion rooms and more complex research and study materials, being employed by the relevant tower is needed. However, you can simply use the public libraries for the basics of teaching, although this will not afford you access to more than common know items/theories, and will not grant you access to the sought after illusion rooms.

Regardless of choice, Mentors must hold at least one magical class, and be of the same or greater class combination then the character who is going to be your student.

Student - The only requirement for students, is simply to be of a magical class combination equal to less then your mentor, or hold no magical classes at all. Alignment to a tower is not required, although be aware that teachings will be limited to the alignment of your tutor, so if your considering becoming an Umbara Mage, studying under a Unigo mage might not be the best option.

IE

Joe, level 10 Mage/Ranger wants to learn more about magic, he seeks out a mentor, Susan, who is a level 15 Warrior/Pyromancer who can teach him more, or Geoff a level 8 Magex2. Both of these are applicable mentors for Joe. Mary, level 10 Mage/Thief is not an applicable mentor though due to lack of skills and experience

Mechanics

Mentor to teach/train student in the magical arts, either with an aim to demonstrating ideas to allow for potential progression within their chosen path, or introduction to a new path of magic, if applicable to the student.

Student to train with their Mentor with an aim to advancing their existing class, or transmuting into another path of magic as applicable.

Teaching can be of any format desired, as long as it is based around the theory and practice of the magic in question. Time only counts for this, although other rp interactions are allowed as desired between the two parties.

IE

Joe and Susan start training together, Susan teaches Joe for an hour, before things start to get hot and heavy and clothing is left on the floor.. only the hour teaching would count for the Mentoring Process.

Rewards

If a student studies under the same Mentor for 4 or more hours in a month, then they will be eligible for a 25% discount (May not stack with Clerk Discount) on any spell within the following month (If not used it will be lost) (Only one such discount can be applied per month)

Mentors who are employed by a tower will be paid their wages as appropriate for time spent Mentoring another character

Mentors who aren't employed by the tower, are not eligible for any rates of pay, although if they tutor a student for 4 or more hours in a month, then they will be eligible for a 25% discount (May not stack with Clerk Discount) on any spell or potion within the following month (Only one such discount can be applied per month), or a 10% discount on any singular enchant (Single slot) (This may stack with 10% clerk discount)

A player may be a student under one mentor, and in turn may well Mentor another character, in which case they may gain benefits of both rewards if they fulfill relevant conditions.

A Mentor may gain the benefits of their reward multiple times in a month, although only one spell bonus may be used within a month, as many enchant bonuses may be applied. This does however require 4 or more hours per individual student, and group training does not count towards this.

Logging

In order for the relevant awards/pay to be credited, logs must be provided, either within a mentor's work logs, or in the thread provided within the forum's for each tower. Logs are to include Date, Start Time, Stop Time, Name of Student, and what was taught during the time frame. No logs means no bonus for either Mentor or Student.

Umbara Logging
Unigo Logging

HeadMasters Bonus

For Students and Mentors who wish to submit full logs of their sessions (not required), then once a month the HeadMaster of the tower may elect to choose one of those submissions for an extra bonus of 50% off a spell slot or 25% off the cost of a single slot enchant. This is not an automatic reward, and is used to reward those who show improvement and dedication to their learning and advancement of magic within the realm. This discount will not stack with any other discounts gained from mentoring.
