DESCRIPTION
There is little known of the true face of the Selket as she is always depicted sitting upon a silver throne with not but darkness surrounding her and the heavy black robes that lay in shreads upon pallid and pristine flesh. Wings spread wide and fingers clasping the arms of her seat, face downcast... As no one dares to incur the wraith of the Mother of Death they do not speculate upon her features, or beauty, and instead focus on her mastery of all things born of darkness and evil. Her avatar, however, is rumored to be a creature of stunning beauty with long tendrils of pitch black hair and large almond shaped eyes that, as well, are a bottomless black. Sharp fanged teeth reside in a lushly lipped mouth and her flesh appears the colour of polished opal and remains irridescent no matter how much light may fall upon it. While her form is humanoid, voluptous and well rounded, she bears draconic characteristics in both an impressive wingspan, small horns upon her brow and a long tail sprouting from her back that near always is flicking to and fro as though waiting for a moment to spring and attack. Despite her comely appearance she is the sum of all things feared by man and woman and her appearance can, and will, change at her leasure to reflect this fear in those that dare broach her ire.

MAGIC & RELATED SPELLS

Inside You(spell)
Class: Cleric, combative.
Casting penalties: None save for a minor energy drain that accompanies all magic use.
Spell description: Over a period of time the spell will slowly begin to strip the skin from a victim. Starting at the pelvis and working its way to tear upwards along the sides of the victim essentially flaying the victim alive while small, painful, strips fall off the body during the course of battle.

Vengeance of Selket(ritual)
Class: Cleric, combative.
Casting penalties: Drains all remaining energy of the caster, leaving them vulnerable. Castable once every couple of days.
Ritual description: Area effect spell, requires three clerics to complete. The ritual is used to defend strongholds from raiding parties. Within a place of worship the clerics must spend a total of four rounds in chat casting to open a portal in the heavens above that will unleash a fire born maelstorm upon a large group of foes. Reigning down ‘hell’ upon their victims with ungodly heat and blinding light. Castable only from the central hub of the temple – more importantly the very altar of Selket herself before her likeness. This ritual has not yet been used outside of the motherland.

Pestilent Grasp(spell)
Class: Templar, combative
Casting penalties: Must make physical contact with intended target.
Spell description: Much like the lay hands abilities of the paladins the Pestilent Grasp is a spell that requires flesh on flesh contact. Instead of healing the target for damage it will instead interject the subject with either the poison or disease decided by the Templar at the time. If no specific ailment is stated then the automatic infliction is a disease known as slimy doom. Within 24 hours subjects will show signs of rot and decay. Sadly there is no death that will follow this infliction and much like leprosy the victim may just lose digits, appendages or whole limbs. Should the victim be pious the affliction can be removed by immediate intervention of either a high ranking, practiced, cleric or high priest(ess).

Curse (spell)
Class: Clerical classes only
Restrictions: Takes one round to cast per target. Is NOT an area effect.
Description: The HP, needing the grace of their deity, takes one full round to lay a hex upon the head of their foe blocking their connections with their respective ‘God’ or powers that be and robs them of their magical stats for the duration of the battle only. However, the defending character will have a chance to roll in defensive as this is used ONLY against clerics and paladins of other religious orders. If they are able to beat the roll of the caster laying the curse upon them the effects are reversed and opposing caster is cut off from contact with Selket and their magics for a period of no less then 24 hours.

Condemned (spell)
Class: Cleric, necromancer.
Restrictions: Physical contact must be made between victim and foe.
Description: A perverse form of a Paladin’s lay hands that blocks the victim from all magical healing or any form of unnatural healing for a period of no less then 24 hours. This works with both physical injury and poisoning, making it all the more difficult for their foe to seek help after, or during, a battle. However this spell is designed specifically for necromancers (The highest rank of clergy in the church of Selket) while the upper clergy war for head of the temple.
Crown of vermin (spell)
Class:Necromancer (defensive)
Restrictions: Defensive only.
Description: Crown of vermin: An aura of insects envelopes the caster and said caster is immune to the effects of the little beasties. The aura takes all physical damage done to the caster and rolls for posions stings are made on contact. Unless cast under water, which calls aquatic vermin, the insects will drown if caster is immersed in water. If any of the insects are killed the ones remaining will disperse themselves over the caster to repair any chinks in the 'armor'.

DOGMA

1. Misdirect and decieve, turn your quarry against all they called friend and family. Seperate them from what they know. What they love.

2. Misdirection and seperation lead to paranoia. Feed it. Glut it. Revel in their fear and doubt.

3. To the pain. Leave it linger until that last exquisite moment of fear when revelation begins to form on their cowlike faces...

4. Kill them. Slowly. Savor the last few moments of light left in their eyes

5. Do harm where you can.

6. Respect the passing of natural death. To call someone back from the great beyond is to be punished.

HISTORY

In the beginning there was the purity of the black. The undisturbed beauty of the void and all the frigid malevolence in the universe concentrated upon the face of the deep, a deep that was, by no means, empty. With dark ill tidings birthed where no man had been born to tread lay one throne and upon it creature so corrupt that even the others that shared the face of the deep were subdued by fear. Forced to kneel before the opulent Lady of Cruelty while both whispering and shrieking their praise in a bloody crescendo that would rise upwards, towards the heavens, where a new movement was beginning to form. The face of the darkness cast asunder with a simple proclamation a blinding energy that exploded from the very air, born from nothing and driving back the demons into the darkness, forcing them to lose ground before the Lady rose with sword in hand and the war began…

Selket stared upon the face of creation, the flesh of men and women, with contempt. Useless wastes of skin, sinew and bone that had been used to pervert Her once beautiful kingdom of cold empty space, a place where the screams of the tortured were lost among the vast nothingness that Shee could rule with an iron fist and the sharp edge of a blade. Everything She had loved, everything that was, was in that moment torn asunder and the rage of the god was of epic proportions. Even among the gathered false gods of the heavens, who, in their terror banded with all others to form an army to fight against the Selket Legion. Though, to the chagrin of the Goddess it would seem as though She was gifted with a valuable resource in the creation that was man. A creature that was easily guiled, swayed, and manipulated with the promises of power that the She would rise in power, gathering strength from the combined worship that now spread along the faces of the realms, every last world created by each god. Perverting their following. With the religion growing progressively stronger with each passing day those that dwelled above and below began to conspire against the vast nothing of the void and its ruler. Declaring Selket as an enemy to all that was good and pure in the world and ironically Selket did much the same, declaring enemies of whoever would stand in the way of the Void reclaiming its glory.

To the people that worshipped Selket was the mother of everything. The creature that came before creation and time itself. Birthed from nothing and emerging fully grown and omnipotent within the dark. Focusing Her power out through the universe itself only to be thwarted by those that were jealous of Her power, of Her dominion, and it was in the dead of the evening they had convened. Every deity from every pantheon known to man and creature gathered in a great circular hall. Plotting against our Lady and it was then they decided that they could wait no longer and in order to seize power and protect what they had wrought upon the face of oblivion they declared war on Selket and her following. Swearing to stop the goddess at whatever cost…
And stop her they would as the heavens went to war, the whole of the pantheons of every realm converging into one well attack that would knock Selket from her throne to the throes of mortality where she is forced to live among her worshippers in the realm of Si Tostyl Sharear. Her blood has stained the deserts, permanently, and from her blood arose the tribe of desert elves that would swear their lives to her. Spreading the word of the mother that would soon reign supreme over the land of the dead, traversing dimensions in order to end the life of the lady Soliel who was bled to feed the insatiable hunger of the pestilence beast. It is here the goddess lays in wait, holding sway over life and death through the worship of her clergy. Sending pestilence and death out and into the world to ever expand her kingdom of souls.

(I hope this passes, Naia’s been worshipping her long enough. If there’s anything that needs to be rewritten please contact me and inform me of the necessary changes.)
