Pender Kender

It is with a sad heart that I write this post. Pender Kender aka Mac, has passed away. He was a fighter, surviving 4 cancers in 8 years. He was one of the greats, both in our game and out in the "real world" where he seemed to do good wherever he went. He was a veteran of the Air Force, and received a purple heart. He was a big homeless advocate in his hometown, and coordinated the local shelter there. He was loved dearly, and is missed by many, I am sure.

A brief candle,both ends burning
An endless mile, a bus wheel turning
A friend to share the lonesome times
A handshake and a sip of wine
So say it loud and let it ring
We are all a part of everything
The future, present and the past
Fly on proud bird You're free at last.

There are no words that I can find that express the sadness I am feeling right now.

Oh no, this is sad news.
My sympathy to all who knew him, in real-life or virtually.

Mac was one of a kind. Both the real world and this world of Belariath are the poorer for the loss. The media focuses on the 'tragedy' of an entertainer dying when those real heroes who die so often go unnoticed.

Mac did more to entertain us here then I could say, he was an integral part of TLI that won't ever be forgotten.

I'll just go damn.. I never met him in any form, and yet there seemed to be so much he did for this place, and for people around. My condolences to those who knew him

He got his wings,
So had to fly.
Say see you later,
and not goodbye.

I think I met him once or so on here, but it is sorry to hear anyone is taken from this world especially by something as cheap as cancer, hope his family and friends find solace in this time.

This is indeed sad. I have had the pleasure of interacting with him on several occasions. He was one of the people who made Belariath the colorful and expansive world it is now. Still, it is his life we celebrate now, and may we never forget that horny bastard.

Save a place for us, Pender.

Ow, that is indeed sad news. Always liked the chances I had to talk to him, mainly on the forums. May you rest in peace Mac.

It is scary when you realize that someone you knew online you knew years longer irl and never knew it. I knew nothing of Pender rl when I came to TLI or so I thought. It turns out I was woefully wrong and had known Pender since early High School right after I moved to the Eugene/Springfield area and got involved with helping in homeless shelters and soup kitchens through my youth group at the time. Part of me is glad I never knew Pender as the man I knew outside tli were one in the same and a part of me is sad I did not know. All the same he will be missed in both aspects and his impact on this game was nothing compared to his real world impact. He will be sorely missed by so many.

I only spoke to Mac a few times in the OOC... never got to play with him. But the few times we spoke were pleasant, and left me looking forward to our next interaction. it saddens me to know there wont be a next time. I've said good bye to a couple of the players here, now I say good bye to Mac. I hope he impacts his next life as he did this one. I raise my glass in his honor.
