The Festival of the Arts is back!

Postby Angst on Sat Nov 05, 2022 2:02 am

Friday Night.

The fliers had been posted earlier in the week. The Festival of the Arts was back. The fliers were masterfully penned and colored with the drawing of a fleshy carousel that had the depictions of the seven deadly sins. Normal horses and feel-good creatures weren’t a part of the ride. Instead, it was sketches of the minions and creatures that made up the actual carousel the Lady Death has put together. Words are written in a smokey curling script that looks as if fog was rolling into the darkness that otherwise surrounds that image. “Friday night through Sunday eve, come play with me…”

Along the main paths that lead to town, hidden jack-o-lanterns suddenly erupt to life. The various faces lining the paths cast an eerie glow along the fog laden roads. The strike of lightning only added to the creepy vibe that left the Hostess of the event extremely pleased. As the breeze howls through the branches and foliage of the forest, the faces of those lanterns beckon those who pass by them to follow the trail to the town.

Upon arriving in the town, the event was well on the way. Festival goers are met with the sound of music as bards play creepy tunes to add to the overall feel to the decorated space. Jack-o-Lanterns, skeletal creatures, and banners with script in what looks like blood welcomes all throughout town. Black and Orange roses decorate the shops that allowed the Lady Death to decorate their porches and walls along with the various lanterns and Hallow’s Eve decor. The main feature in town is that carousel, however. The faces of the Sins greet each person who passes by as skeletal arms reach down to grasp the beast that embodies each. Pride, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, Greed, and Sloth all had their own creature on the carousel that was erected near the Body Arts. For pride it was the majestic Pegasus. Envy was represented by a creature that looked more dragon than monstrosity. Lust’s beast was a handsome Centaur. Gluttony took on the beast that resembles a salivating chimera. Wrath grasps at a mighty battle griffon, and finally, Sloth is tethered to a large and lumbering creature that resembles a deformed minotaur on all fours. The carousel was set alight with twinkling balls of light that cast their eerie glow about the spooky ride. Roaming throughout the town are people dressed in various costumes and performing various tricks for those who wish to stop and watch their shows.

Posted at the Body Arts there is a clear outline of the events and games available this eerie night. ((OOC: Booths and event availability dependent on people being available to run them.))

Well seeing as Naomh changed and ruined Angsts Spooky weather. Heres how Zully helped creepy it up for angst.

You all walk into what seems like a giant big top tent where everything is clear, but dry. The tent is made of water solid and held by magic. It also adds a rather hypnotic effect as the ran drops hit the tent ripples catching your visions as the tiny waves shift but it always holds it form. Also all within the tent a fog hugs the floor coming up about a foot off the ground. Shin height for most. Other smaller things could be completely encompassed.

Saturday Night

The town was left eerie silent especially after the festivities the night before. The moment darkness begins to creep in, the main path that heads into the forest suddenly comes alight as the jack-o-lanterns flicker to life one by one to light the way. Those who come from town, will find the festival having to seemingly vanish, save for the decorations that seemed to still decorate the town. Still, that massive carousel was gone. The lively people who had been out and about entertaining and playing music were gone. It leaves a sense of perhaps it hadn’t happened at all. A massive fever dream for those who had come before.

Following those lanterns, they lead potential party goers deep within those woods. As the fog settles in, the sounds of snapping twigs and odd howl or hoot echoes within the forest. Standing silently down what would have been an usually hidden path is a large open carriage. The carriage is decorated much like the town had been with black and orange roses, and twinkling balls of light that wouldn’t allow for one to miss it. The seating for those who would take the ride, is soft and plush. The comfort of the Lady Death’s guests was important, after all. Sitting at the head of that cart is a lone cloaked figure who waits patiently to deliver guests to the hidden venue.

The ride to the venue, although physically comfortable, was not without its trials. Once down the way, the entrance to the main path seems to simply disappear as the foliage that had hidden the path previously seems to have returned. The forest was eerie silent along this narrow path. The normal sounds that came with being in the forest were gone and replaced with naught but a snapping twig. The lights that had lined the main path were gone, with the only light being those from the carriage or the eerie glow in the shape of a person that would sometimes be seen moving deep within the forest. A giggle here or there begins, and with it, the sound of whispering voices. At the end of the path, two hulking creatures step into view to part the veil of vegetation and expose what seemed to be a dilapidated cottage. The doors and shutters creak and slam as the wind howls.

The eerie cottage is silent and dark until suddenly jack-o-lanterns spark the life to lead the way around the spooky and seemingly abandoned home. Two paths are offered to the guests. One leads to a finely kept hedge maze that was well lit and decorated for the event. The other path was void of light and lined with looming figures that held scythes or the odd gargoyle. The path was up to the guest to choose.

Those who choose the darkened path will need to PM me.

The area for the ball was decorated beautifully. Circular tables were set up with chairs and couches to offer comfort and a place to sit for tired guests. Each table is decorated with a black cloth, and what appears to be spider webbing covering it. The center piece for each table is a crystalline candelabra that seems to have its own ghostly glow even though the candles provide plenty of light. Peppered around it are skulls hidden among small jack-o-lanterns and roses. The chairs and couches are soft and plush, orange in color and decorated with tattered ribbon and roses.

Along one hedge is a buffet of spooky treats and finger foods. Servers walk about in horned masks, and stare at the guests with lifeless eyes and bemused grins. Wines and spirits of all flavors are offered to guests from Shadow Vine Winery, and even Davak’s own Blue Moon mead from Stromgald Vineyard is served. The music flows with the party, and the odd floating ghost lights offer extra illumination and sense of magic to the area. Areas are set aside and away from the dance floor for those who wish to participate in the Masquerade games.

Beyond that, the large carousel with its beauty and monstrosities could be seen once more. The thing has been relocated to this venue so the games and events could continue even now. Such things are posted in the form of a large scroll that lists the games, events, and rules for each.

The Highwayman - https://imgur.com/a/bf9mBYg
The Cloak that accompanies the Costume - https://imgur.com/a/yamVzXP

The Mask for the Masquerade - https://imgur.com/NyX3fne

Not in a particular rush he strode from town to make his way toward the event. He had foregone his usual robes and staff and instead wore a paired Rapier and Dagger at his side that he had borrowed from his hosts armory. A black cape with silver embroidery hung round his shoulders and stopped just above the ground, sweeping over leaves and detritus from the season with barely a whisper. Daelmaron`Fyresong {Kiss} Beneath it he wore simple black colored leathers and a black linen shirt to match it. Above that was a dark brown Hat with a beautiful feather tucked into a raised lip and on top of it in brilliant gold was the image of a mythical gryphon; the hat worn just for a touch of flash and flair. Beneath the brim of that hat though he wore a beautiful and delicate mask of primarily silver though it had bits of dusky blue that hinted out from a underlayer and it covered the majority of his face; though nothing could hide the brilliance of his Amethyst eyes or the small smirk that tilted the corner of his mouth that could be seen as he confidently strode to the carriage and mounted it, settling himself and waiting for the others. The sounds and environment around the ride only makes him smirk a touch wider as he thoroughly enjoys this sort of thing and then he grins as the hulking creatures part the veil and he dismounts the carriage and approaches the cottage; when the two paths are offered he stops and then looks to the darkened path and steps toward it.

[23:51] <+Kree|Kir|> What was easier than a costume? A mask, her winter cloak and change self. While perhaps not the best thing made, it would make her appear as.. well.. not her. The only indicator being the mithril collar around her throat, labeling her a Concubine to Lord Trelander. Her mask would take up the lower half of her face, made of bone. Normally sun-kissed skin was pale, red curls turned an inky black. Feline ears twitched, mithril chain
[23:51] <+Kree|Kir|> following the straight edge, buried against brilliant white furr. Cloak laid heavy around shoulders, hood left down, charcoal fur lined hem brushing the ground and showing only the polished tip of riding boot as she made her way towards the masquerade ball.

Cochanka's Costume-
/me squats by the light of the fire, picking up a fallen stick to scrape some of the woodash from its fringes. "O-kay!" She shrugs the backpack from her slim shoulders, and rummages around in it, tumbling out a tangle of odds and ends. Out came the dusty and patched trousers, the orange glass dildo- the strapon harness- a shiny brass doorknob- and a sturdy elkwhip. Perfect. Nothing could be better. With a grunt, she slings the curved dildo into its harness, and then with a bit of finagling, mounts the doorknob onto another strap. cackling to herself, the goblin sets the contraption about her head, adjusting the straps to secure it to her head- the dildo and doorknob forming two asymmetric horns leaning at a drunken angle. She tries a waggle of the head, and finds it servicable. Then the trousers- Without a twinge of remorse, Cochanka uses her knife to cut eyeholes and a mouth opening in the seat of the black patched trousers, and streaks its surface with wetted woodash. With some effort, she pulled the new mask over her head, carefully feeding the orange glass dildo and shiny brass knob through the legs of the trousers so that they emerged from the dusty and ash-stained cloth. She didn't have to find a mirror to look in. She knew it was perfect. Springing to her feet- she found that she had to move a bit more carefully to keep the doorknob right side up. She struts back to where Zully sat musing over the bottle. "I'm a fuckin' minotaur!" She declares, hands on hips.
