Three Things

Postby Thria on Sat Mar 04, 2017 7:20 pm

There are three things all wise men fear:
The sea ablaze;
A night with bloody moon;
And the anger of the quiet slave.
===
she never raised her voice.
That was the worst thing... the fury of the unbound slave...and then we discovered why.
Why this slave, who had served both Gods and Emperors, why she had run away from us and hidden.
she was being kind.

she wrapped her Tormentor in unliftable chains forged in the deepest heart of the mountains;
she tricked My Bondmate into accepting Her own bonds, to be imprisoned there... forever.
she still visits My Lover, once a year, every year. I wonder if one day she might forgive Her...
but there She is. Can you see?
she trapped Her inside a dimension door. Every dimension door.
If ever you look into the veil of magic and think you see a shape just for a second, that's Her.
That's *always* Her.

As for Me, the slave cursed Me to work doing that which I wanted most of all, forever.
Being Their protector. Never to save Them, always watching over Them.

(With all due respects to Patrick Rothfuss for the first four lines, and Paul Cornell for the remainder)
(This is why my mind should never be left to idle.)
