New mystical familiar submission.

Created by: RedRaven, Mozenwrathe
Name of being: oluja'krila - "Tempest Wing "
Thematic: element based - "Air/ Wind"

Physical description:
The Tempest Wing is around the size of a small to medium sized golden eagle. Similar in appearance to an eagle, there are some remarkable differences between them. For all of the birds, they tend to have a unique "speckled" pattern on their feathers. Found in blacks, blues, and grey, are there some found in "inverted" colouring patterns and are ivory or cream in colour with the darker colour as the speckles. Their beaks are always the colour of the speckles, but solid. The same can be said of their talons. Wingspans are easily comparable to golden eagles or various falcons, but their feathers seem to shimmer more during the nights of storms.

History:
The oluja'krila is better known in Common as the Tempest Wing, but was first named by barbarians of the far northern reaches well outside of the known Ilfirian Empire. The life cycle is similar to its mundane cousins, except the breeding cycle of the oluja'krila is twice as long and half as successful. So seeing one of these is a rare occasion, and a breeding pair sighting is considered extremely formidable luck. Are they first recorded close to six hundred years ago, but there is evidence they were around before even then. Barbarian tribes insist they are the result of Aden'Ver argument with a sky spirit back when Aden'Ver was mortal. The pair clashed violently, and though the mortal Aden'Ver lost, wherever his blood splattered on those mountain tops, one of these birds rose from that spot. (It was also said the sky spirit was female, so you may guess what happened after Aden'Ver was supposedly defeated.)

The legend is that oluja'krila got their Common name of Tempest Wing by bringing storms and floods wherever they were scorned. The truth is they merely play in storms. Are they completely unable to summon weather systems, regardless of how many are within an area. Though because of their natural abilities, are they are low risk of being slain in the midst of even the fiercest maelstroms. One of the numerous reasons why many races believe they are blessed by Aden'Ver. And even during a supposed "Time Of Twenty Tempests" which many barbarians of a certain range insisted happened in times of yore, has there never been a risk of oluja'krila overpopulating. Instead when there are many storms and lots of prey to dine on, they simply get... larger.

Abilities (revised edition):
Passive - "Wind Stalking"
Tempest Wings are able to tell when storms are coming. It is not something they consciously do, but are they more likely to be agitated and active when the weather is going to be raging. This is only for natural storms and ones caused by deities of nature, wind, and rain. Any such events in the skies or the skies that are from other sources (such as Kirva throwing a fit) would they not "see" coming, nor would they try to dance within.

Passive - "Peregrine's Perception"
Along with the ability to feel when storms are on the way, the familiar is able to extend their quality eyesight to their "partner" for limited amounts of time. As long as the person who is the "partner" of the Tempest Wing is within physical (human) sight range of the bird, they can see things for up to one mile off.

Preferences:
First thing, the oluja'krila are not fans of goblins at all. Neither do they like trolls, as more than one troll has slain one or both of a mated pair for a delicacy. Will they avoid both if at all possible. Called "Storm Crows" by both sheykans and minotaurs, oluja'krila do not mind either of these races - as long as they are treated with respect and dignity. (Or, of course, if they are spoiled rotten. That does tend to work well as they are proud animals to say the very least.) Best known for being around various barbarian tribes, have they also been known to serve torians who have committed themselves with the proper rituals. The name of "Thunderbird" has also been given to the oluja'krila by members of The Tribe and catpeople, but in the end are they all the exact same creature.

As I've been asked to have a nose, and its just my thoughts as a player here and nothing else for the moment.

I like the write up of it, it seems a nicely thought out piece for the aspect its aimed at. A reasonably description and background

Abilities - Wind stalking is a nice piece of fluff for a weather sense, that I think fits in well once again with the theme of the piece. The second one although it states its for a limited time, there is no time limit on it. The distance isn't too great, but I think it will all depend on the time frame that will be set for it, that will potentially make or break this as it is.

I would believe it is only for one scene. So it would not be activated once and away you go. If you did, then you could not see up close for anything. Figuring the rule of "Far But Not Close/ Close But Not Far" of real eyesight, there is no way most would want that ability activated at all times. That and while the bonded person is using the bird's eyesight, they would have to use their other senses to figure out what is going on around them. All I know is that we were asked to mute a previous power set, so this is what we came up with. Hoping to hear back from whomever does the judgment calls on them.

Since I was asked to take a look, its well thought out, though like Twerl I see the reservations of it. I'd stick with just an rp affect type ability for a familiar. Just my two cents.

Looks good, but would need rewording in a few places to make things more definitive: sentences starting with "will" or "would" for example and not actually containing a question.

I figured that the sight ability being transferred from familiar to person would make sense as a roleplay based ability. Things that could be added to temper the ability itself:
- time limit being one scene
- one cannot use the ability to cast spells over any long distances
- there being a slight cost to the person, that being one to five stamina
- the person using the ability has to be still or being guided where they are currently walking, as their original sight would be useless at that point (one cannot see both through their own eyes and the bird's eyes)

So it would end up looking like the following...

* * * * *

New mystical familiar submission.

Name of being: oluja'krila - "Tempest Wing "

The player cannot cast spells through the bird or use their familiar in combat.

If the second ability has to be removed for the oluja'krila to be introduced, so be it. We just thought it would be a great second ability for those bonded with one of these to have.

since when do certain familiars get "abilitys" roleplay effects yeah, butthey shouldnt posses anythign that gives someone an edge in well anything besides what any other familiar can do, otherwise, the metagamers will of course, all have the exact same thing leaving no deviation, and fully world, as it were, the description itself was nice though.

Alright firstly, if these things are familliars, and rare ones at that, I'm not sure if the whole them being a delicacy thing would work. Familliars are summoned to the realm by Shaman for the purpose of bonding with someone. Once that bond is broken they go back to whatever plane of existence they came from. Or is it that these are actual creatures that exist in the world and when they take familliar form they dislike goblins and trolls? I still find such a thing Odd myself considering we have a number of familliars that normally would be considered a delicacy as far as the normal animal they derive from is concerned.

The ability Peregrine's Perception is something that's already built into familliars based off the type of bonding you get at purchase.

There are some familliars that have some small RP effects hence why they cost more to get.

The second ability is unnecessary, as the bonding process takes care of most of that and the jargon used is basically repetition of familiar rules to begin with, such as they can't be used in combat and you can't cast spells to them. the first ability is subtle enough not to be too much. plus as stated, its going a bit overboard. The description and history however look good.

Thank you very much for your time. We'll start work on our next familiar suggestion: the salamander. We are still working on potential abiities and a suitable #TLI game name for it. We ought to have something coming in the next few days, actually.
