Net neutrality

Do we know yet what effect, if any, the end of net neutrality will have on Belariath? I would hate for this to be the end of our beloved community.

It's too early to say. It will depend on alot of different variables. My guess is it won't affect this much as this isn't main stream enough to garner any attention from the provider companies.

Well, there is still another vote that has to take place, and 17+ states are suing the FCC, so, we only can wait.

It is to be hoped that this abortion of a law is terminated before it gets anywhere. But if not, I assume that the priority of telecoms will be to provide a two-tier service which they can monetise. It isn't beyond belief that in some areas they might institute censorship in the future but I think they will have to be careful of that because it's well known that over 50% of internet users access some form of porn. So to go too far would create an opportunity for a rival service, perhaps satellite based.

As far as it goes from our end, I moved my servers to Canada a few years ago because American instability and fascist tendencies were showing even then with the nazi tactics of DHS.
