Legends of Belariath

Veria

"It rained Fire. Sheets of red death sweeping down from the heavens. That is the only thing i can remember about it." "Maybe something else then. When.. when did you first meet an elf?""When i was on loan to the embassy of Dieth in the city of Genroll.. her name was Veria. and she was a dark elf..."

Carmine was walking the docks. The night air hung thick with fog from the cool sea. it was impossible to see more than a few feet in front of him. This was perfect weather for muggers, and that was why he was out in it.

Carmine walked with the determined stride of a man who fears nothing and no one. He was a man that could and often did spit in the eye some of the most fearsome criminals in Genroll. A city guard, well known and respected, feared even by many of the local thugs, more than one of which had gone home with broken limbs after a friendly chat for information.

Tonite was no different. He stalked the streets and his very presence made the muggers think twice about stalking anyone. After all, it was dark. and mugging Carmine is a good way to lose your life.

As he moved along the streets, his shoes moving with a quiet stride so as not to allow muggers to identify his size, he frowned. He was having a bad night. no one had tried to mug him yet, and the lack of someone to break always made him moody, but this was different. They were avoiding this area already, and not because of him.

Carmine slowed to a stop and listened. No matter how quiet people are, they always make noise. a tap, a scrape, a whisper, a breath. And while this is normally very hard to hear, especially by the rolling waves of the ocean, but Carmine had been on the streets for years, he had practice.

The noises where faint, but nearby and in large quantity. Someone was moving something, lots of something in fact by the sounds of it. Carmine growled with eagerness and broke into a run. moving with his huge bulky muscles he roared around a corner and stopped.

Very few things could make Carmine pause. he had seen dead bodies. in fact he had made quite a few, and he had seen torture, rape and slavery. None of it fazed him. but what he saw now was completely unexpected. and he stopped. he stared for a moment, confused by the sight. and then smirked and growled, ready to pounce. thats when the shadow fell on him. Carmine turned around.

"What the hell?" he said with a suprise, and looked up.

Than he screamed.

The sun well into its morning flight, and the city gaurd was everywhere. Gyr flinched as it shone into his eyes and brought a hand up to shield them from the bright light. the sky was clear and in the air, all seemed calm. But on the dock. where the Body lay...

"so what happened?" asked Gyr while he walked over. He was dressed in the traditional light black chainmail of his profession. a sherrif, of the investigative division.

"Well sir, it looks like Carmine finally met someone bigger than he was." said the armoured guard standing over the body. Gyr looked down and saw that Carmine's head had been twisted around, he was looking with wide eyes, and blood leaked from his sockets and a few cracks in the skull. Gyr sighed.

"Yup.. must have finally met someone from the ogre district. Knew it would happen one day.." said Gyr as he looked back, putting his hands in his belt. He looked around briefly.. the area was secured.. a guardsmen had died.. the other guardsmen did not like that. Most likely crime would go down for a few weeks. they knew the guard would be especially vicious for a while, and the smart criminals will just wait it out.

"I'm going to run to the ogre district. see who's acting funny.. or if my contacts there know anyone.. i'll be back at the station.. tell me if you find anything else."

"Yes sir"

Gyr hated traveling through the ogre district. It had formed about 50 years ago, when a horde of orcs and ogres had attacked the city.. the army failed and ran out of money. to get rid of the besiegers. The city paid them off.. then they did the unexpected. They moved in.

The city was unprepared, but adaptable. Most of the orcs went home. The ogres though, decided they liked it here. and soon they found themselves in unexpected positions. Many are actually respected workers, butchers, blacksmiths, bodyguards, dock workers. But most seem to wind up doing nothing. they act as muggers or thugs for the local crime bosses. A generaly unpleasant lot no matter what you do with them, but when they have intelligent leaders.. and good rewards.. then they become dangerous.

Gyr stalked down the overly wide streets.. built just after the siege the homes were large single storied dwellings, usually made of salvage from other homes or the occasional scuttled ship. the current bar he was heading for was of the latter. The Sunked Troll was actually run with human money, from some investers in town. it did rather well in the ogre sector, and employed a number of the locals. Supposedly it helped keep them honest.

"Hello Danthwacker" Gyr said smiling as he approached the barkeep. short for a troll Danthwacker barely stood taller than Gyr, who was smiling up at the green monster.

"whut the hell do you want Gyr?" he snarled as he wiped a huge wooden goblet clean.

"oh nothing from you Danthwacker.. I'm just wondering if my old buddy CLUNK is still around? Cuz you see i owe CLUNK a favor or two...." Gyr smiled and leaned back shouting into the backroom. There was a quick scuffle and Clunk came running out. If Danthwacker was short by ogre standards... Clunk was a midget. he was only 5 and a half feet tall, and his body mass spread out, around him making him look like a running moss covered tree stump...

"Be quiet Gyr!!!" snarled the ogre, as he moved his considerable bulk around him.. but he was carefull not to actually touch the human. Gyr just smiled

"why Clunk whatever is the matter? Maybe we can talk about this in the back then?" and without a word, he turned and made his way to the back room. Clunk growled and stomped after him. He pushed the huge wooden door shut as the stepped into what was once the captains quarters of the overturned boat wreckage. Clunk turned to Gyr and raised a huge finger up at him.

"By Orgeck human! Are you trying to get me killed? If they find out i've talked to you in the past.. they'll have my hide for a curtain.." growled the ogre, pushing Gyr in the chest a few times...Gyr smiled and gently pushed the hand away he leaned over and proped his elbow on Clunks little head...

"Well clunk as i see it.. We helped take down the guy trying to make this little bar you manage pay protection, now you owe us.. but we dont want money.."

"You're worse than they were. what DO you want Guardsman..?" Gyr smiled again and adjusted his position, putting more of his weight on the ogre.

"There was a murder last night.."

"So what? there's murders every night." replied the ogre

"This one was a guardsman." said Gyr. no humour in his voice now. Clunk froze. every muscle and blinked.

"Who?"

"Carmine. His head was twisted. needed to be someone strong." Clunk nodded his head.

"And stupid. Most of the locals know better than to kill a guardsman. more trouble than its worth. Where was it?"

"The docks. Port 12." said Gyr. He watched as Clunks eyes widen and than shut quickly. Gyr had to catch himself from falling and was extremely suprised when Clunk grabbed him.

"Hey!! Clunk what..?" Clunk turned though and shoved Gyr outside.

"Tell the old bosses about me if you want. but i know NOTHING about Port 12 last night!" and with that he slammed the door..

"He slammed the door?" Captain Mord said. He was sitting behind his large desk, dealing with paperwork, which is often where the ageing captain said he belonged. But he always took a personal say in things when a guardsman was killed. He had worked his way up in the ranks of the militia, just like every man there. And he was loyal to his troops.

"Thats right.. CLUNK, the cowardly ogre, actually picked me up, and wouldn't talk. I could technically get him on assault of a guardsman if you want me to bring him in." said Gyr, he leaned back on the chair in front of Mord's desk, frowning.

"Dont bother.. he's scared of someone, someone he THINKS is worse than us.. Don't bother making him squirm yet. maybe later." Mord leaned back and seemed to think.. he was a beaurocrat after all these years.. but he had spent a lifetime catching criminals. he has shrewed at heart.

"Go check the other local snitches. See if they lock up too at the dock thing. If they do go talk to Big Fink." Gyr blinked at the last words.

"Hey big Fink is dangerous. Even for us. You sure about this boss?" said Gyr a bit hesitantly. Mord just nodded.

"Yup. See this isn't Finks style.. he knows better than to ice us too. That means something else is going on.. and that its someone else. If anyone will tell us. its Fink."

Because he's not afraid of anybody and he hopes we'll handle the competion problem for him.." said Gyr nodding his head in understanding.

"Exactly.. go get 'em." and with that Mord turned his head down and went back to the world of beaurocracy. Gyr stood up quietly and left.

"So no one talked?" said Sharth. He was dressed in full battle gear. breastplate, sword leggings everything except the helmet as he walked beside Gyr. The sun was getting low and where they were going was dangerous. Gyr had decided to bring backup.

"Nope, not a word. they're scared of someone.. so we've got to make them more scared of us. isnt that right men?" Gyr shouted the last part. Almost one hundred city gaurdsmen where lined up behind him. They shouted their approval and bashed their gauntlets on their breastplates making a horrible ruckus. Gyr grinned and turned to look at the restaraunt down the street.

"Than lets go pay Fink a visit men." he smirked and walked, the small army walked behind him. The Palace is one of the most exclusive clubs in town. only the richest merchants or highest nobility may enter. they had plates made of real crystal, doors of glass, huge windows and several levels. They even had a stage where performances from small operas to sword eaters performed to the entertainment of the patrons. It was also owned by Big Fink.

The doors where pushed open by Gyr and the army stormed in. It was dinner time and the place was crowded. every table had a noble or merchant at its place and the contortionists on stage had their attention until the Gaurdsmen came. They moved along to either side of the huge room, pushing local bouncers in towards the center and covering the walls. Gyr smiled as they finished, people gasped and whispered to each other.

"Hey Fink.. mind if i come up and have a word with you?" said Gyr shouting to a special table on the upper level. A Large handsome man, somewhat elderly, frowned and looked down at him.

"I am not Fink... i am Duke Fynkerello.. and you would be best to remember that. Now get up here guardsman and tell me what all this nonsence is about..."

Gyr smiled and turned, making his way up the steps quickly. He aproached the table and the two Troll bodygaurds. They were decked out in huge purple outfits, with white sleeve ruggles and everything. Oddly the tight suits, traditional for humans, just made the trolls look larger and more imposing. Gyr grinned at them and they snarled back, stepping aside to let him have a seat at the small round table. Duke Fynkerello stood up and leaned over the edge of the balcolny to look at the rest of the patrons below.

"Please ladies and gentleman, finish your meals while i deal with this obvious misunderstanding. Tonight's dinner is on the house." he smiled and sat back down, slowly conversation resumed below and people continued to eat, even with the army of militia surrounding them.

"What is it you want Gyr? you have just cost me a small fortune." growled the Fink as he sat back down. He was the crime in the city. It all traced back to him. The only reason no one brought him down was that it's better with him there. Better the Fink you know than the Devil you dont. He had bought the title duke a few years back. Made it almost impossible to touch him legaly. the special privileges of the royalty.

"Well, funny thing. A guardsman died last night. I'm sure you know by now"

"I'll send a fruit basket to the guardhouse.. anything else?" asked Fink as he sipped some wine. Gyr smiled and looked down.

"Its funny.. becasue we know it wasn't you. for once. but no one else is willing to talk. So whats the deal? Who is everyone more afraid of than you?" said Gyr. The fink looked up with suprise on his face.

"I havent a clue what you mean. I am an honest trader and businessman."

"Now I know you know.. whats wrong Fink? He has you scared too?" Gyr smirked at the man.

"Duke Fynkerello." growled the large man while he wiped off his chin with a silk napkin. "and i fear no one."

"No one? Don't you worry about things happening to this place? It must be expensive the security here."

"I need little security and you know it." snapped the duke. He took a series of deep breaths to calm down than looked at Gyr again.

"What about your knowledge as a concerned citizen then? After all, as a citizen we help you and keep you safe. So we can always leave extra men around your place to help keep you safe?" He grinned. this would scare away Fink's help and he knew it. wouldn't stop him, but would make his life harder.

"That won't be necessary." replied the duke "if you ask me. those merchants from The Darkest Lady, are awfully suspicious. they refused my invitation for dinner last night." The duke sipped at his wine and watched Gyr carefully. Gyr nodded his head and stood up.

"Well, I apologize for wasting your time Duke Fynkerello" he turned and yelled down to the men.

"It was a mistake everyone. we have the wrong place. everybody out!" Gyr cried waving his arms. the guards turned and stormed out as efficently as they had stormed in. leaving the Palace as they had found it. a bit more shaken perhaps. but unharmed. Gyr winked at the duke and hopped down the stairs casually making his way outside with a hop and a skip.

The Duke smiled as Gyr left and returned to his meal. He had hoped this would happen and was pleased that he no longer had to deal with the problem. he smiled and lifted a turkey leg to his lips.

"the nine hells does this mean?" shouted Gyr. he leaned over the table staring at the piece of paper in his hands. the slave who had handed it to him cowered.

"i am sorry Sir, please, i was just told to deliver it..." the slave was heavily manacled and already on the ground covering hsi head. Gyr thought his name was Humphrey, but wasn't sure. He ignored the slave and stormed off for Mord's office. he kicked the door and it opened with a bang not stopping his stride he stormed over to Mord and glowered down at him.

"In the name of Blandith, what the nine hells is THIS!!" he growled shaking the paper in Captain Mord face. The captain just leaned back in his chair.

"its an official decree. from the Ambassadorial offices. we are not to touch that ship. If we do, the kingdom of Dieth will consider it an act of agression. to avoid war, politics says we let them go..." Mord said very calmly as he leaned back in his chair.

"Fuck that! they killed a guardsman! no one gets away with that." snarled Gyr as he crumpled up the paper and threw it aside. "i'm going anyway"

"NO." said Captain mord standing up quickly. "you will do nothing. the case is closed."

"WHAT?!?" Roared Gyr..

"SHUT THE HELL UP AND SIT DOWN!!" interupted Mord leaning over his desk and shouting at Gyr. Gyr blinked. and slowly sat down.

"i dont like this either. but thats what the bosses say. he must have sen somthing.. maybe a state secret. and they killed him for it. it happens in politics."

"But.." said Gyr

"BUT NOTHING" Roared the captain. he sighed and sat back down "we cant risk a war over one dead gaurd. its not worth it. so we let this one go. alright?" Gyr turned his head away

"ALRIGHT Gyr?" he snarled..

"yes sir.." muttered Gyr.

"good. go home. you need the rest. its been a busy day" and with that the captain sat back to his paperwork. Gyr stood up and trudged out. but he didnt go home. not just yet.

"please sir.. i.. i can't help you sir...." said humphrey, he was bowed over at Gyr's feet. Gyr was kind of embarrased. he'd seen slaves like this before. their will almost completely gone. it was degrading. he sighed.

"look.. just tell me. has the Dieth embassy received anything? any messengers lately? magical or otherwise?" he looked down at the poor slave.

"N.. no sir.. nothing since i got there.. i.. iam in charge of message distribution. the... the only anything that was come by was.. was a dark elf.." he quivered..

"a dark elf? why was a dark elf going in there?"

"i.. i do not know sir... she w-went to see ambassador Vince." said humphrey. Gyr rubbed his chin.. and stalked off.. he had a hunch.

"As you desired my darling..." said ambassador Vince. he smiled, his fat little body shaking gently as the beautiful dark elf sat on his lap. she smiled and wrapped her arms around him.

"oh my big strong hero.. i would have been in Sooooo much trouble without you" she purrred into his ear, her long ears pushed back and her thin frame wrapped around him pressing against his chest. the ambassador sweated and started to fidget happily.

"anytime dear lady. anytime at all!" he smiled broadly adn flexed his hands around the thin little elf. she leaned back and smiled down at him

"so uhm.. Lady Veria.. can i have.. my reward now?" he turned a bright red and his pudgey fingers flexed and unflexed eagerly. the dark elf girl smiled. she wore a very tight red dress, it barely stretched over her thin frame, and pushed her small round breasts up and forward, with a round opening so anyone nearby would have a look at the perfect spheres.

she smiled innocently and put a finger to her cheek, looking for all the world like a teenager.

"weeeelll i suppose it is time for your supriiiise.. " she said with sickening sweetness, she leaned over and got on her knees in front of the fat ambassador. he giggled like a schoolboy and quickly reached his hands down to start to undo his pants. the little elf licked her lips greedily making a loud smacking sound.

Gyr could barely see what was going on. he was crammed into a very thin space that existed between the walls.. it was designed for airflow.. not human habitation, and he could barely move.. but he could see through a small crack in the wall everything that was going on. he smirked to himself... exactly as he had suspected. she had paid him off.. not with money like he had assumed of course, but a bribe is a bribe.

"mmm look how big it is!" said Veria as the merchant finished opening his pants.. his tiny penis drooping out. she smiled down and looked at it lovingly, and then leaned over taking it in her hands. slowly she stroked it until it was as large as it was going to get and then she brought her mouth down. up and down, up and down. all Gyr could see was the bobbing of her head for several minutes.. he enraptured despite himself. then the ambassador screamed.

At first Gyr thought the man had simply orgasmed, but no.. his screams where much worse than that.. they choked out almost instantly and Gyr's eyes widened at the sight. The girl sucked now, as hard as she could a deep breath it seemed, and the ambassador began to wither. his whole body shriveling like a raisin, skin stretching over bones as his body dehydrated.

The girl finally stepped back and away she smiled innocently at the corpse and laughed loudly. with a turn she walked out of the office. Gyr blinked and struggled to get out of the wall..

"a necromancer? are you positive?" said the captain narrowing his eyes at Gyr.

"yes sir.. she sucked his life out. send a man over.. the ambassador is dead.. and the message was a fake." Gyr said leaning over the table.

The captain leaned back and thought about this for a minute..

"Our orders are very strict on the matter.. but if we do nothing the murderer of an ambassador will get away.." he grumbled trying to think.

Gyr looked at him with wide eyes

"you're actually considering letting them LEAVE?" he said with disbelief. The captain looked up at him and sighed.

"if we move.. and this is a screw up.. i'll be removed.. and so will the rest of us guardsmen leaders.. the new leaders will be beaurocrats if we're ever pulled. remember tht.." he said and looked back down thinking.

"its not a screw up.. this NEEDS to happen... we have to stop her." Gyr said quietly. he wasnt thinking about an ambassador.. his fellow guardsman had been murdered.. he wanted vengence. the captain turned around

"i'm telling you not to do it." he said flatly.

"But sir!"

"And not only that.. i'm telling you NOT to take a squad. i'm telling you NOT to take the anti-magic amulets that are in the case. And i am NOT telling you that the key is on my desk.. understand investigator?" said Mord calmly his back to his desk.. facing out the window.

Gyr blinked.. and then slowly he leaned over and lifted the key from Captain Mords desk and silently opened the case.. he removed the 9 amulets.. all very expensive and precious, specially made by a powerfull wizard at great expense to the city. he put them in his pocket and turned to the captain

"yes sir... i understand completely" he said and than turned and walked out. Captain Mord sighed and pushed his face into his hands.

Gyr moved with his men across the docks.. all of them had Elf made double crossbows in their hands and dwarven made short swords at their hips. the best troll blacksmiths had forged their breastplates solid and nearly unbreakable. these where the elite squad of gaurdsmen. they were trained to handle any situation quickly and efficently. and they were armed to the teeth and ready for vengence.

Gyr looked out into the darkness.. the fog on the Dock was so thick you couldn't see more than a few feet in front of you. this was perfect weather for muggers. he lsitened carefully, and there was noise on the dock. he raised a hand and signaled the men.. quietly they moved to the dock and silently peeked over and around some boxes to see what was happening. Gyr froze at the sight.

There were people on a platform.. set next to the dock.. it was the dark elf and she getting savagely fucked by 3 cat men. she moaned around the huge cock in her mouth and and the one standing behind her growled as it pushed into her ass again and again, the one under her licked at her tiny breasts while its cock split her open. Gyr was stunned as the four figures writhed in pleasure. he and the other men stopped...

He watched fascinated with the scene for several minutes. than he finally started to look around and was startled by the site. Corpses... dozens of them were carrying the bags from a warehouse and into The Darkest Lady. the bags where struggling.. they had people in them. he blinked and finally realized what was going on.

Roaring with rage he stood up and fired.. the cat man fucking Veria in the ass fell over dead, she snarled around the cock she was sucking but kept working.. the zombies dropped their bags and immediately turned to the gaurdsmen. the other eight men charged out without a sound, crossbows fired over two dozen bolts into the creatures.. but zombies dont fall to such things and they kept coming.

"Cut them to pieces! its the only way to kill them!" Gyr yelled as he ran at one. his short heavy sword easily sliced the body in half and he waded into the fray, the other gaurds join in.

Finally the two remaining cat men orgasm, and just like when she had done it to the ambassador, they screamed and began to dehydrate. the little dark elf sucked cruelly on their bodies, absorbing all of their life. the one Gyr had shot was the lucky one..

Gyr watched in horror as the two bodies joined the rest of the zombies in their attack. there where over thirty of them.. but the gaurds were much stronger and smarter.. they easily cut back the zombies, slicing them to bits and making their way to the dark elf girl. she just laughed.

Gyr snarled and ran forward, he sliced down another zombie and rapidly approached the girl.. she just smiled and lifted a finger.. a blast of dark energy knocking him down. Veria frowned.

"Wha.. waht? you should be cinders?" the dark elf girl says with disbelief. Gyr just smirked and said nothing.. he thanked the gods for those anti magic pendants and moved toward the girl..

"so this is what he saw isnt it? a kidnapping ring for your little zombie army.." he snarled. and moved forward he was close now but he moved cautiously.. even with the amulets she was a necromancer and very dangerous..

"what? who? that foolish gaurd from last night?" said the dark elf puzzled as she moved backwards slowly.. her nakked body reflecting light from the moon.. Gyr snarled and was about to lunge forward when he realized something. a zombie can't twist a mans head off. so how....?

Gyr ducked just in time.. the massive fist almost grabbing him.. he rolled to the side and looked up to see it. a Bone golem.. made from human skeletons the monster had ribs for fingers and five skulls for a head... a giant sickening creature. Bits of flesh hold its joints together. and it moves with a sloppy gait.

"By the gods!!!" shouted Gyr he leaped back and stumbled off the platform. the golem looked down for a moment than turned around and faced the other soldiers.. they were just finishing off the zombies and stepped back, stunned by the giant monster's presence.

With a sickening and inhuman roar it lunged for the men and grabs one lifting him into the air.. he strikes at the creature fully but is torn in half and tossed to either side. The other soldiers backed off slowly and the dark elf necromancer laughed loudly. she then turned and ran for the ship... the bone golem continued to attack the other guards, but had forgotten Gyr. He stood up and dashed after the dark elf...

She was up into the boat when she noticed the human chasing her. with a snarl at her lips the naked necromancer spun around and threw another death bolt, missing Gyr by inches. he smirked and ran forward, bringing his sword up, with a shriek of panic she clawed her fingers and ripped a wound into her own side. Gyr paused for only a second, long enough for her to tear out one of her own ribs. with a brief incantation, the rib began to glow with green Runes, and seemed to sharpen in her hand, the wounds on the dark elf’s side leaked blood, but it was wrong, thick and gooey. And black.

"Who ARE you? Why are you interfering?!!" screached Veria. She brandished her rib like a knife and circled Gyr, they were in the ships cargo hold. a large dark room, illuminated by only a few torches. there were bags upon bags piled in here.. thick leather things. over a hundred of them... and they all squirmed.

Gyr didnt even reply. he didnt have to he just attacked, he brought his sword up and down in a vicious swing. The girl with a strength that suprised Gyr, deflected the blade and screeched, charging at him for her own savage assult. Gyr retreated rapidly as he barely deflected blow after blow by the girl, he staggered back and fell to the ground. Outside he could hear a savage crunching sound followed by a scream. the Monster had gotten another one of his men...

The distraction almost cost him his life. The knife came down with a blinding speed, and Gyr barely managed to get his sword under it in time. The necromancer is sitting on him now, having put her full weight behind the thrust, she leans over him with wild eyes and snarling lips, shoving down on the knife with inhuman strength, her blood oozing out of the wound and onto his armor, where it hisses and bubbles..

Gyr shoved back as hard as he could, but the girl had dark powers, and she was stronger than him, and was slowly lowering the boney knife down to his eye. Sweat dripped from his face as the blade came closer and closer.

Outside meanwhile the other soldiers were in trouble. The Creature had already killed three men.. and that left only five. they where helpsless against it.. its legs where long and powerfull, made of human Femur fused together by unholy magic, they bent backwards like a birds and ended in giant talons..the soldiers pulled back.. easily outmatched. Then the creature stopped and fell backwards. dead.

"So you managed to beat the necromancer, and that killed the bone golem?" asked captain Mord.

"Yes sir" replied Gyr.. after i stabbed her.. it just sort of.. fell dead i guess... I had the men haul it to the city dump."

"and the bodies?"

"Poisoned sir.. they all died anyway.. we were too late." said Gyr, he looked down a bit.. but otherwise didn't let any emotion play on his face. The captain sighed and sat down.. he picked up some paperwork. "well you did good anyway.. at least you stopped her from taking that army of bodies with her.." he looked up "speaking of which.. what are you going to do with the bodies?"

"Burn them sir.. then bury in a mass grave just outside the city.. we don't know what other nasty spells she might have laid on them." Gyr leaned back a bit.. hand on his hip.. The captain just nodded and returned to his work.

Gyr smiled and lturned out of the office.. he left the police station quickly and headed for the outskirts of town. When the flesh was burned off the bodies they would be skeletons, and that's what he really wanted. Gyr's eyes flashed gently.. and with a shimmer the illusion spell faded slowly.

Veria laughed.
