Legends of Belariath

Ebon Ivory II - Wait And Bleed

*this poem was left behind at the site of a massacre in the dark elven city of Karak'Vorhee. slightly smaller than The Seventh City of the dark elf, all that remains public is the fact the legendary lifestealer Syndel Voidwalker came into the city undetected and then when on a killing spree for two weeks. the poem itself was left on the Tower of Kirva within the city, along with the bodies of the dark elf used for the blood. it is for this reason Karak`Vorhee has forbidden all usage of necromantic magic within its domain, for fear of mistakenly resurrecting the deathwielding Syndel from ANYWHERE in Belariath.*

watch this sunset before you
as I know it will be your last
you stand on the brink of forever
witnessing the pure light of the world above
tasting the wind of winter in your mouth
allowing cold hands to trickle along your skin
rasping their nails down your flesh
crying your tears of blood and pain
though no torment have I visited upon you
except for the deaths of all you loved
and the destruction of all you dared to know

come against me with your best
make my quest more the challenge
as I breathe your air deeply
does my presence choke your soul with glee
laughter echoes in your ears
while my blade reaches for your breast
yet does it not puncture your skin
for have I saved that joy for my fist itself

upon the ground of your birth shall you perish
know the symmetry is not lost on my soul
but merely that I care not for your dreams and desires
my only goal is to watch your light go out
knowing that it was my hand that snuffed the candle
fingers removed and burned at the stumps
now whole and hale and greedy for lives
can I be more the monster if I were covered with scales
reminding you of the dragons of yore
could it be easier to justify your death
in the eyes of your gods
