The Scepter of the Dragon
Ancient myth and legend has been passed down for thousands of years among the dragons and those who are created by the very dreams of their slumber the drak sen. Not a word of this ancient myth is ever to be spoken to any other race. It is said that any who do will be instantaneously be stricken with a curse placed upon the very blood of the dragons and dragon kin. Ancient word has passed down over the years the very story that goes like this.
In the beginning the word itself began as a vacant charred wasteland with no possible way to support the very life that now flourishes in many different shapes and forms. It was then at this very moment that the great godess Gaia began to place her watchful eye upon the world and began nurturing it to support life. The first thing Gaia did was cool the earth allowing the fire and brimstone to subside. She did this by waving her hand and a flood of rains came falling from the sky to cool the scorched earth. The waters flood the earth until there was nothing left. Seeing nothing but water the goddess knew that this wasn’t sufficient either so with another wave of her hand the great masses of land raised from the depths of the ocean soaked with the life giving water the land was now fertile and green. The plants and animals began their life flourishing and feeding over the world
However the gods are petty and the god of Decay and destruction is as well. And when he saw what Gaia made he was infuriated cause he could not make what Gaia had he could only destroy. So unable to create he unleashed great plagues fires and disease upon the earth. Gaia fought back replacing everything the god of decay had destroyed until finally the two gods realized they had both had enough with one creating and one destroying there could be no way for either of them to win. So Gaia looked to the god of decay knowing that she was the only one who could create she places the first four dragons on the earth. The Black Dragon Thanaxus, The Red Dragon Pyros, The Green Dragon Zoescas, and The Blue Dragon Anat. By creating the four dragons to serve as the protectors of the earth she had appeased the god of decay by making the first two in his image and then making the other two in her own image. Thus Gaia left the world with a sense of balance that the dragons were created to maintain look after and destroy when needed. Thanaxus was given the task of seeing that the creatures of the earth met their demise when appropriate. Pyros was charged with Scorching the earth when it grew beyond its boundries. Zoescas with creating new lif,. and Anat with clensing the scorched earth.
The god of decay had a plan by contacting a sorceress upon the earth he promised to make her his queen if she could upset the balance and tip it in his direction. So the sorceress devise a plan and sent her minions to steal from the four dragons each a piece of their home. So the minions took a rotted bone from the cave of Thanaxus , a piece of brimstone from Pyros’s lair, A leaf from Zoescas’s forest and drop of water from Anat’s Stream. The Sorceress took the items and formed them into a great scepter and took it to control the world.1000 years of darkness ensued where the world was held under the dark rule of the sorceress until the four dragons woke. And all of them sought to exact their revenge upon the evil sorceress attacking her strong hold killing all within burning it to the ground and flooding it with great waves before sinking it into the earth. It was then that the dragons split the scepter into four pieces each hiding a piece at their own far corner of the earth so that nobody would be able to find them. It was those four dragons that placed a curse on the scepter and the story of the scepter each of them chanting in old draconic language. And after the curse had been placed they each placed seven drops of their own blood in a clay pot and chanted the words of creation that made the fifth dragon of pure silver who was to be the protector of the people of the world. And with their task completed the five dragons dragons went back to sleep but one would always remain awake and they would rotate until the one day when they believed the pure good would spring from the earth itself in the form of a pure white dragon who would go and collect the four pieces of the scepter and put it back together and would rule the world with fairness and restraint strength and accountability that would create a eternal peace.
It has been rumored that over the years many drak sen and many dragons have gone in search of the four pieces believing that they could be the true white dragon, only to be slain by one of the protector dragons when they failed one of the four puzzles or tests that must be completed to obtain each piece. And so the pieces shall remain until the day that they are found by one who is completely true of heart mind spirit and strength. It is only one with those qualities that could only be fit to hold the scepter.
