Skye

Starting Anew: Part 2

Getting Out

Skye stared at the grains of dirt on the ground, not even bothering to pay attention to the mindless speech Marzek was giving to the assembled Blood Wolves. Skye did occasionally glance over to the young girl he'd met in the tent earlier, who sat totally submissive next to Marzek. Skye let his gaze rise to the symbol that Marzek held high above the crowd, an aura of power radiating off onto all those here except Skye and the girl. Skye did his best to ignore the cold wind blowing on his naked body, cursing these bastards for putting him in such an embarrassing position.

Finally, Marzek's speech seemed to be turning to him, so Skye allowed himself to pay attention to the words, "...however, since this little thief was skilled enough to break into our walls, slay both Ragwort and Hussuk, and touch our sacred symbol, I propose we reward him with something to take with him into whatever afterlife there is! What do you men think?" There was a chorus of roaring cheers from all sides, and Skye couldn't help but wander what kind of "reward" these dumb bandits could come up with. Skye suddenly noticed that Marzek was bringing the girl forward, and Skye suddenly groaned mentally as he was pretty sure what was coming up.

"Since the young thief seems to have taken a liking to Candy here, I'm going to let him have his way with her just this once, then we behead his scrawny thieving ass!" This brought another chorus of cheers and howls as the girl was roughly shoved into him. The men standing guard released him and stepped back, evil smiles on their faces. Skye looked into the girl's face, a warm smile on his own, speaking very softly, "I'm sorry I have to do this. Let's both try and enjoy it, okay?" She seemed both frightened and sad, but nodded firmly, not showing the emotions she must have been feeling. From behind him, Marzek's voice echoed, "Hurry up and fuck the girl, thief, before decide to withdraw my generosity." Skye growled lowly and looked at the girl again.

Candy simply smiled and pushed him down to the ground, lying him on his back, her hands massaging and preparing his shaft for the task that would be coming soon. Skye began to massage her breasts with one hand while teasing her slit with the other. Finally, she positioned herself over him, and began to lower herself onto his rod, letting him enter her a bit at a time, until he was all the way in. She bent down close to him, breathing heavily, as her hips began an up and down motion, rising and falling on him.

Skye allowed a part of himself to get lost in the moment, but his mind raced. There had to be a way out of this situation, there just had to! As he wrapped his arms around her head, stroking her hair while they went at it, he felt something in her hair. Skye's eyes opened wide as he looked right into hers. She had hidden his dagger in her hair! As he looked into her eyes with a dumbfounded look, she just smiled and nodded. The two of them built to a climax, Skye exploding into her sending her over the edge, her body resting atop his, his hands in her hair.

Skye saw Marzek coming over to pull Candy off of him, sword in hand, the symbol worn as a necklace around his neck. Skye waited, clutching the dagger, breathing very softly. As Marzek grinned and pulled Candy's spent form from him, Skye leapt, his dagger plunging into Marzek's skull, right at the center of the forehead. Skye gave an evil grin as he looked into Marzek's stunned eyes, watching the spark of life fade away. Taking advantage of the moment of stunned silence, Skye reached out and snatched up the symbol, clutching it in victory, withdrawing his blade, blood spilling from the wound onto his hands. Right then, the Blood Wolves seemed to get their resolve back.

Skye heard it from there, the sound of a crossbow from one of the towers. Skye tried to move, but in his mind he felt he would be too slow. He cursed mentally time and again, knowing that any second now he'd be dead. A shape moved between him and the bolt, and a second later a sickening thunk punctured the silence. Skye watched as Candy fell back into his arms, the crossbow bolt sticking in the center of her chest. Skye held her, stunned that she'd just sacrificed herself for a total stranger. With a cry, he called forth all he strength, leaping from where he was standing onto a Blood Wolf's shoulder, from there to a horse that had been hastily abandoned to watch the proceedings. He kicked the horse and galloped for the wall, leaping from the horse to the upper balcony, and from there, he leaped over the wall, casting Feather Fall. He floated down to a tree, and began leaping deeper into the woods, leaving behind the howling Blood Wolves.

Skye finally came to a stop deep in the forest, setting Candy down. He looked into her face, and saw that she was slowly dying. As tears began to fall down his cheeks, Candy reached up and brushed them away, speaking for the first time, "Thank you for saving me...and taking me away from that awful place..." With those words, she was gone, and Skye was left alone, howling out a cry of mourning. As Skye looked at the symbol he had stolen, he noticed his bloodstained hands. No more, he thought to himself. No more will I allow this to happen. I'm going to leave this land and start over somewhere else, somewhere I won't have to do this kind of work anymore. First off, I'll need to acquire some new clothes though.

As Skye started back towards the road, his thoughts turned South. As he recalled, there was an inn to the south, beyond the border. What was the name? Oh yes, the Lonely Inn. Perhaps with the forty mehrials he'd get from this job, plus the stuff he had stashed away, he could spend a couple weeks at the inn and find out what the land was like...
