Forest Haunt

“Oh let me tell you the tale of the forest haunt…” the voice echoed over the loud inn “Yes, yes a horrible tale of before magic was so reliable..” Her voice seemed to echo off nothing, hanging eerily upon the ears of the patrons. “ages ago, before my people even came to the place there was a great and horrible war wages between the goblins of old and the Elves, a secret war none are suppose to know off…” the attention was now drawing upon her, her story was expected to be good, if it wasn’t she might regret taking the stage.. or else she would be stuck on stage caught in another type of show. “They had forged an uneasy alliance see, as they had a common foe the ones known as the Humans.” And there she had it the attention of all and if not all damned near it. “Oh yes, yes look not so shocked, Humans when they were young were liked by few any…” she went on. “Well all was well at first,” she explained as she moved about the stage only faintly her dark spheres locking to different patrons as she told the story. “But then as the Humans were being forced back, loosing to the raw numbers and savageness of the goblins and the superior intellect of the elves of those times, the goblins did what they are best at trying to opportune on others efforts, thus they turned, double crossing the elves, attempting to take two with one attack, it caused a horrifically brutal and bloody massacre upon the front line of elves, the things they did should perhaps not be told…” she sighed “But alas I’ll share them anyhow…” she smirked faintly “The Goblins were like raging berzerkers using any and everything they had as weapons, swords, staves, branches, even the dead’s limbs, they cared not, the elves were ran through, and some even used as food as the battle raged on, the red ran so thick into the ground that it brought the attention of the dark God…” she seemed to shiver at the thought “he casted a blessing upon the goblins to make them even more fierce and more violent, to aid them in slaying more elves, and they did, oh they did, force line after line, to retreat, casting more death in each battle their rage their cruelty knew no bounds, every battle they fought, they became more animalistic, to the point they started changing… but the elves were not alone in their battle for survival… there Gods saw the struggle and blessed them with magics, which they used to try and force back the onslaught…” she explained slowly making contact with each, set of eyes she could as she spoke “but it seemed as though it would not be enough, and an unlikely alley came to them, Humans… humans were creative, and unique in their thoughts of battle, it gave the elves an edge… the humans found ways to channel Elven magic, and twist it into more powerful spells…” she made strange motions as she spoke now. “Oh yes the goblins were starting to be pushed back, and the elves saw their chance, they casted a great and powerful spell with the aid of the humans, one that ruined the goblin forces, perhaps forever, leaving only a few weak and insignificant ones alive, ones that bred over ages into what we see today.. but there was an effect they did not predict as well…” she now rose her voice as her story really took off “See the spell was beautiful as well as powerful, the elves stood in a large circle around the goblin encampment, bring up their magic, using the human tool’s to channel their power… and finally as it built up and the spell was ready they light the ground up with a soft blue aura, that rose up in the form of blue light, then it rained down red fire, that stripped the very flesh from the goblins, their screams of horror and pain echoed through the woods, with such purity of torment that even to this day the wind carries their torture with it..” she sighed as if uneasy with the thought. “The blood oozed with the melted skin, churned with the goblins blood and was poisoned by their evil, vile ways…” she again made wicked motions of the act. “far from condoned, the Gods punished the elves involved, forcing them into darkness of the earth, away from the light, and the humans, were robed of their machines of wonder, stripped of their ability to create, and unique logics, forced to live as savages as barbaric tribes…” she goes on explaining the who of the events that ‘took place’ it was indeed an event they Gods never wanted to have repeated, and more so never wanted known, they did well to insure such, but what of the land was cast upon? It was forgotten as well as to where the red fire came from.. the moon, it was brought forth from the moon it’s self, and thus ever time the moon is full and casts a red fire upon the land, the Haunting grounds of those tortured Goblins is re-awakened, they rise forth still trapped with in the circle of power about them, still in torment, still seeking to slaughter the allies, and in truth all others, but one day the magic cast there so long ago will fail, and one night while you rest in your bed, be it here or in your home, the undead remains of those ancient warriors are going to get you, and attempt to use your body to return themselves to the land of the living…”
