Legends of Belariath

Zingara's Songs

Slave's Freedom

Born into beauty, born from the same
The daughter to a mother whom has no name
Born to a past surrounded in pain
Her people were hunted, slaved, or slain

As an infant the beauty was stolen away
Shipped over seas for unending days
Finally arrived at her new home indeed
A slave for eternity seemed destiny

Weeks into to months, months into years
Joy into sorrow, sorrow into tears
Unable to speak unable to cry
Strong into weak no will to try

Years of torment and solitude
Masses of slaves, all just abused
Death in the form of famine and plague
Nothing to change day after day

Then in the spring a flower did bloom
Kimi her name and its life ended soon
Brief her life, yet large her gift
The sprites of all she managed to lift

With the passing of the child came such a shock
No longer did the shepherd control the whole flock
A rebellion arouse in a quick fiery rage
It ended with most relocked in their cage

One had escaped, the one with no name
The beauty from mother, the one and the same
The one from the land beyond the great sea
The one who now had no where to flee

She traveled the harsh desert for unending nights
Until sand turn to grass and shadows to lights
So now the real tale of this desert rose starts
and here perhaps is where you take part

For here she now found the lonely inn to rest
And a home and family at best.
Perhaps you are a friend waiting to be found
Or maybe a slaver tracking her down

Either way it may be, her impact is grand
Through little small actions, like a speckle of sand
She alters your life, the course of your river
Be love or be hate, once met you'll never forget her.
