Legends of Belariath

Goblins Religion

Many goblins assume the beliefs of other cultures, but the predominant religion, the one which they call their own, is that of The End Mother, Kkla Sin. Debatably the founder of Necromancy as the modern world knows it, and the one known entity to create an entire race in mortality, Goblin’s believe that Kkla Sin watches over each and every one of their souls, waiting for the time of their deaths to take them back into her arms, to welcome them into the whole that is her. She is the one common figure of Worship amongst Goblins, and they praise her in a wide variety of ways, though most often by throwing their lives away on doomed raids only to hasten their journey into her embrace.

The Three, also known as ‘Ambassadors’, are figures of mysterious worship in some Goblin cultures, believed to be the reincarnations of Kkla Sin’s first three Necromantic disciples who take possession of the bodies of a young Goblin shaman. Entities of incredible power, they take a heavy toll on their host bodies, aging them rapidly. Thus, frequent replacements are often required.

The one other figure of worship amongst Goblin kind is Oglinesh, believed to be the Son of Kkla Sin herself, and thus the father of all Goblins. Though many Goblins do not know it, his story is the source of the festival of Oglinesh, a universally celebrated time of chaos and destruction amongst goblin kind.

Rituals

Birth:
Though birth is a frequent and hardly significant occurrence in Goblin culture, from time to time there is need for a replacement host for one of The Three. In such cases, a child is taken at birth by one of the Necromancers in service of the three, and a terribly dark rite is performed to open their body to the Abassador’s possession. The child is then raised as apprentice to the Necromancer, learning his power so he might become a smoother conduit for his possessor. If the child is lucky, he will grow into a man without an Ambassador having need of him. If not, then they will soon learn the life of the puppet.
