Name: Zshar-ptitsa "Firebird"
Type: Magical Companion
Description: The Firebird is a sort of a cross in appearance between an eagle and a peacock. As to size, the Firebird stands 3-4 feet tall, has a wingspan of 72-96 inches, weighs from 11 to 15 pounds and the body shape and talons of an eagle and a tail that most resembles that of a peacock. They can have a plume of two or three long feathers on the crown of their heads. They are covered in bright red and gold feathers that glow for a period of hours, or even days, even when they fall from the Firebird. Their eyes appear to be made of crystal.
Firebirds hail from the cold northern lands of Virelith. They are rare birds, eschewing contact with intelligent species. They are known for soaring high over the snowy lands beneath, spending entire days aloft, seeking their prey, though they are omnivorous, eating large fish, small to medium land mammals and also fruits and berries for which they have a particular weakness... especially apples. There are rumors that they can bring great luck, good or bad, if they are captured as many who have set out to capture and tame the Firebird have met gruesome, or unfortunate fates, while one or two have made their fortunes.
Abilities:
1) Firebirds are known for their beautiful singing. Some even say that the singing voice can heal. (If it is even acceptable, I suggest an ability to heal 1 to 5 life points, out of battle, once per day essentially just enough to keep someone from bleeding out)
2) Firebirds constantly glow, emitting a light approximately equal to that of the Dawn's Early Light spell. They can, through a concentration of effort that render them dull and slow in their actions and thought processes dampen their light at need, no more than once per day.
3) Firebirds have the ability to ignite their feathers, lighting themselves on fire as either a defensive measure to discourage someone from touching them or, by touching the tips of their wings to something flammable, they can ignite just a couple feathers and light a campfire, or the like.
