How To Become a Tu`Turadil

Postby Azara on Fri Apr 08, 2011 6:29 am

I've written this thread because, since I've returned, I've been asked by a few people: How did you get DaeLaren to become a Tu`Turadil?

I'm sure that those of you who are reading this hoping for a step by step on how to get your slave nominated for, then hopefully honored with, the title of Tu`Turadil.. will be disappointed.

Why?

Because THERE IS NO STEP BY STEP GUIDELINE that will get your character the honor. There is no TO DO list that states: "If you do this, and this, and this, your character WILL become a Tu`Turadil!"

But, if you REALLY want to know what I did to get DaeLaren nominated.. then, honored.. I'll tell you:

NOTHING.

That's right.. nothing. I did not actively go IC in an attempt to get DaeLaren noticed. In fact, I had other characters that I played who were slaves, as well. I played all of my characters like I've always played them.

Granted, there was a dynamic between her and her owner at the time she was nominated, Infernis. Their Master/slave relationship was such that DaeLaren wanted to do all that she could to please him. She knew that she was valued, appreciated, and cared for. That made her all the more willing to be the best slave she could be for HIM. -I- as the -player- had no ulterior motive for playing her that way. I simply let my character be HERSELF.

And, THAT, right there.. is my best advice. Let your character be herself/himself. Because I'll tell you what it's NOT about:

It's NOT about how large, or small, your posts are.

It's NOT about how many hours you can spend IC at any given time.

It's NOT about how "good" your slave can be all the time.

It's NOT even about how wonderful the relationship is between Master/Mistress and slave.

Because you can have a ROTTEN, IC'ly speaking, Master/Mistress who abuses, torments, neglects, and generally mistreats their property (and, we know how some love it that way.. don't lie!) on a regular basis.. but, it IS about how the slave carries herself/himself that matters.

The bottom line is: You shouldn't make your character something she's/he's NOT.. -just- so you can try to make sure they're on their way to becoming a Tu`Turadil.

What it really IS all about, in my opinion, is:

Having FUN playing your character.

Having fun WITH the people who play with your character.

Letting your character be HERSELF/HIMSELF as they live life in Belariath.

Enjoying the IC relationship between your character and their Master/Mistress, no matter what that relationship is in terms of "good" or "bad."

If you do THOSE things... then becoming a Tu`Turadil?... is just icing on the cake for playing a game that you truly enjoy, with characters that you help bring to life, in a place that is wonderful to play in.

So...

There it is, folks, my take on "HOW TO BECOME A TU`TURADIL."

Tips on how NOT to become Tu`Turadil: [-X
[*]Steal the emporer's clothes
[*]Tell the emporer that you owner is a better man than him.
[*]Harass the IGs daily
[*]Steal from local stores
[*]Get on every last nerve of every last noble
[*]Try to roast marshmellows over L's head after you get her 'fired' up
[*]Poison a Viceroy's favored pet dogs

Just a few things that come to mind.

Greetings and salutations,

mozenwrathe here.

Now, I am by far one of the last people who should be talking about this topic. I have my reasons. However, there has been over the past... (I would say six months?) renewed interest in this Tu`Turadil classification. I couldn't exactly give people names and faces, and probably wouldn't anyway. This is more of a general question than anything specific. Mainly, people have wondered the following four things:

1 - what has to be done in order to become one of the Tu`Turadil?
2 - are male slaves allowed to become Tu`Turadil, or is it much like certain races where females only apply?
3 - is this title still considered relevant to the region or the game as a whole?, and
4 - is this title something that can only be acquired if you are "in good" with a Noble character or an Op character?

Yes, I do understand some may find the last question somewhat risque, but it is a fair question. I ask it not because I have a singular character that would ever seek out this title, but there are, apparently, more than a few people that would love to aim for it. That is both in character and out of character. Any positive conversation and discussion about this would be greatly appreciated. Mainly as if this title was created to enrich the game and give various characters and players something to aim for, it should be restored to what apparently was its former glory.

I say "apparently" mainly because I was not here when the title was first introduced. And since my return in mid 2010, I have not seen personally any new characters dubbed with that title.
current characters:
Prydain Mozenwrathe (Magi, smith, known to the Might Makes Right) ,
Ichilandar Shimmerstrike (dark elf, ranger, merchant) ,
Dasan (Sheykan, druid, real estate specialist)

Alright,

logolar here. Yes, I'll post as my TT character.

logolar is a TT that is a male. It's rare but simply because of how I see most slaves act...It's not something that most people embody. While each of us TT have a different style we all react with a certain poise through situations. When asked to do something WE DO IT, unless the Master/Mistress says otherwise, and even then we make sure in the most respectful tones possible that we would love to do it but cannot. It's a discipline that is rare, and it's not even about who you know or are owned by. logolar was unowned when he was nominated. It's about how you react in every situation whether you think ops are looking or not. It's the embodiment of being a perfect slave, and it's something that takes A LOT of work.
The player of: Gravik, Falador, and logolar.
