Maradia is an ever shifting island... The landscape rearranges itself thanks to the volcanism and it also strangely sports a jungle like forest under constant change and growth fueled and cleared by the whims of the islands volcanism... One would think that the climate would be far too cold for this sort of forest but the trees have evolved thanks to the unique resources on it. That being heat from the earth. There's a large central volcano... of course the entire island is volcanically active to some degree but one main cluster exists which heats and nourishes a particularly thick and fast growing jungle. With a dense canopy that traps the moisture... leaving to a far more hot climate in the greenest area. The other areas are lighter in trees... thick with grasses and cliffs... But the forest spreads fast.... eruptions at times clears part of it but it quickly recovers unnaturally.
The trees grow tall and thick... their leafy canopy dense and their leaves easily overlap and latch onto each other causing a particularly thick carpet to trap the heat and steam rising from the ground in places and spread it out for the rest of the trees in the surrounding area.
Fruits are not an uncommon sight at all, and a particular one looks closely related to dragon fruit with its shape though its color is a vibrant blue... Its taste like sweetened almost candied ginger. A sweet heat with juice that gush from it when bitten into. Though if left to overripen in this climate they start to taste of sulfur.
The rest of the island is a sprawling landscape of cliffs and hills with rivers and inlets crossing the land many of which come from great big water falls inland. A multitude of hot springs and can be found pretty much anywhere on the island. There are few places were one wont find themselves close to rising steam... The temperature can range from pleasant to boiling so do take care. The land outside of the jungles are mostly covered by grass mosses and short shrubs. This makes for excellent grazing for those animals that can navigate the inclines and cliffs. Of course there are some areas closer to the coast to the south west that flatten out enough to be considered proper fields.
